The Yala Peak and Ganjala Pass Trekking is a fascinating journey to the Langtang region, surrounded by mighty mountains and glaciers. This region houses the Langtang National Park, notorious for its lush forests, towering mountains, and crystal-clear rivers.
The Yala Peak offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including the Langtang Lirung, the Gyangchung Kang, and the Naya Kanga. The peak is also home to a rich array of flora and fauna, making it a paradise for nature lovers.
To reach the summit of this journey, we will embark on a multi-day trek from the town of Syabrubesi. The route is not strenuous, but it is crucial to be in good physical shape and to have the proper gear.
As you make your way through the lush forests and terraced fields of the Langtang region, you will come across breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. From the summit, you can see for miles in every direction, with the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas stretching out as far as the eye can see.
Once you reach the Ganjala Pass (5,160 meters), you will encounter stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The pass is a popular destination for both hikers and mountaineers, and it offers an excellent opportunity to test your endurance and skills. From this location, you can also see the Langtang Lirung and other peaks in the region.
Best Season for Yala Peak and Ganjala Pass Trekking
Fall and Spring are the two optimal seasons for most of the treks. The Yala Peak and Ganjala Pass Trek isn’t any different, with an exquisite contrast of natural brilliance between the two seasons. In the fall months of September to November, the weather in the Langtang region is cool and dry, making it a good time for trekking.
The fall colors are also beautiful, making the landscape even more vibrant. During spring (March to May), The wildflowers bloom, making the landscape serene. The clear skies also make it an ideal time for viewing the surrounding mountains.

Yala Peak and Ganjala Pass Trekking Itinerary

Arrival at Kathmandu (1,320 m/4,330 ft.) and transfer to Hotel
Today you will begin your adventures in Nepal. We’ll receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to the hotel. After the warm welcome, we’ll introduce you to your trekking and climbing guides.
In the Life Himalaya Trekking office, we’ll brief you about the route and the itinerary. Finally, we’ll escort you back to your 3-star hotel for an overnight stay. We’ll begin the adventure tomorrow.

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi (1,450 m/4,757 ft.) 7-8 hrs.
Our first day of the trip begins with an early drive to Syabrubeshi, where our trek will begin. The entrance to the Langtang region is also known as Syabrubeshi. The road leads us through the northwestern portion of the Kathmandu valley, passing the picturesque landscapes and traditional villages.
We will be able to see the magnificent Himalayan panorama en route, which includes the Langtang, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Ganesh Himal ranges. After a brief lunch break at Trishuli or Kalikasthan, we continue to the historic village of Syabrubeshi. Teahouse accommodation for the night in Syabrubeshi

Trek from Syabrubeshi to Lama Hotel (2,480 m/8,136 ft.) 5-6 hrs.
After breakfast at the teahouse, we will start our day. Our trek begins alongside the Bhote Koshi River, and the route ascends and descends hills simultaneously while traversing a thick rhododendron and oak forest.
Then we cross the Langtang Khola bridge and climb a treacherous trail in the direction of Rimche village. Our trial will direct us to the Lama Hotel after lunch. If you’re lucky, you might encounter abundant wildlife en route to the Lama Hotel, including red pandas, Himalayan black bears, etc. Spend the night at the Lama Hotel.

Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3,541 m/11,617 ft.) 6-7 hrs.
From the Lama Hotel, we continue our ascent while taking in the scenic mountain scenery of the Langtang region. We’ll slowly approach Ghora Tabela from our initial hike. We’ll have lunch here before setting out on our trek to see the lucid Langtang Lirung and its ranges for the first time.
To get to the picturesque Langtang village, the foundation of Langtang National Park, our trail continues to climb up the widening valley, passing a few temporary Tamang settlements and old Buddhist monasteries. Spend the night at a teahouse in Langtang.

Trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,900 m/12,795 ft.) 5-6 hrs.
We set out on our journey after breakfast, winding through small towns and yak meadows as we ascend the trail gradually. We’ll traverse the fascinating villages of Mundu and Singdum as we continue our trek. After that, we’ll move past areas where many yaks are grazing, little streams, piles of debris, water mills, prayer flags, chortens, and sacred rock piles with carvings.
We’ll also pass by the largest mani wall in Nepal, which is made of stone and has writings of mantras and prayers. We’ll then approach the oldest Buddhist monastery in Nepal, Kyanjin Gompa. Teahouse accommodation for the night in Kyanjin Gompa

Acclimatization and ascend towards Tserko RI (4,984 m/16,352 ft.) 4-5 hrs.
To ensure proper acclimatization to the altitude and maintain activity on a high-altitude trek, we’ll stop at Kyanjin Gompa today. After breakfast, we’ll hike uphill to the Tserko Ri, where we can see the Langtang ranges and other impressive peaks from every angle.
We’ll then return to Kyanjin Gompa in the late afternoon and tour the nearby stunning Buddhist monasteries. We’ll also visit a factory that makes yak cheese the old-fashioned way, by hand. Teahouse accommodation for the night in Kyanjin Gompa

Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Yala Peak Base Camp (4,900 m/16,076 ft.) 6-7 hrs.
We will hike uphill along the same path we used yesterday after a late breakfast because there is no other way to reach Yala Peak. We’ll ensure we have all the necessary tools and supplies for climbing before beginning our trek to Yala Peak Base Camp. We gradually climb upward, following a pleasant snowy trail to the base camp of Yala Peak.
Before ascending to Yala Peak, we’ll follow a unique climbing session (pre-climbing training). Yala Peak is not too strenuous to climb, but it is not simple either. With the help of our highly skilled climbing guides, we will go over some fundamental climbing instructions and techniques so that we can safely and successfully summit Yala Peak. Summit Yala Peak (5,500 m/18,045 ft.) and return to Kyanjin Gompa 9-10 hrs.
Today is the longest, most exciting day of our trip to Yala Peak. We’ll get ready for our eagerly anticipated ascent of Yala Peak. We’ll begin our day at a very early hour with an amazing scramble climb that includes a glacier, a few rock steps, snow-covered walls, and a rocky ridge.
We’ll work hard to reach the top of Yala Peak, rewarding us with magnificent views of the Himalayas. We’ll slowly make our way down towards base camp while taking awe-inspiring snapshot photos of the Himalayan panorama.
After enjoying a few meals and gathering the remaining supplies, we set out on our long trek to the Kyanjin Gompa. Teahouse accommodation for the night in Kyanjin Gompa

Rest day at Kyanjin Gompa (3,900 m/12,795 ft.) or Reserved day in case of bad weather 5-6 hrs.Â
After a long and hard summit towards Yala Peak, this day is reserved day for your rest. There is no such guarantee that we will have favorable weather on our planned day for the peak summit so, this day is set aside as a contingency. If weather becomes exceptionally unfavorable we wisely have to postpone the program. In case we are unable to summit the peak on the desired day due to bad weather conditions so, then day is reserved taking such kinds of risk in our adventurous journey. Also, your health and body request rest during high altitude trek. Overnight stay at teahouse in Kyanjin Gompa.

Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Ngegang (4,100 m/13,451 ft.) 5-6 hrs.
After having proper rest, our day begins with the breakfast at teahouse. We slowly continue our trek and cross the Langtang River and move towards Chhoyna. From here you may not see any villages and human settlement. The trial goes on ascending and the area is covered with littlie natural vegetation. Since, we are already in high altitude it may take longer time to walk through snowy path. Sine there are no available of teahouse, we need to stay in camp. If you want to trek up to Chusangma (Camp) you may trek concerning your trek guide however, it depends upon your walk. Overnight stay at tented camp in Negang.

Trek from Ngegang to Keldang (4,270 m/14,009 ft.) via Ganja-La pass (5,130 m/16,831 ft.) 7-8 hrs.
Today is tough, long and exiting day where we will be crossing the great adventurous Ganja-La pass. Our challenging day begins after having breakfast at tented camp prepared by our staffs. The trial leads to steep-up and then passes through the snowy trials to cross the adventurous Ganja-La pass of the Langtang region. We slowly pass through Ganjala Phedi and ascend towards High Camp following the glaciers all the way. On reaching top of Ganja-la, we are rewarded with the amazing views of mountains like Yala Peak, Dorje Hoimal, Naya Kang peak, Langtang Lirung, Urking Kaanggari and mighty of peaks. Ganja-La pass is coveres with snow almost throughout the year.Finally we cross Ganja-La Pass and trials leads us through crevasses and rocky chunks towards the Keldang via Yangri Kharka. Overnight stay at tented camp in Keldang.

Trek from Keldang to Dhukpa (4,040 m/13,255 ft.) 5-6 hrs.
After having delicious breakfast prepared by our staff, we descend following the prominent ridge line. After packing all the equipments and gears we slowly move forwards. We will walk along with the amazing view of Himalayas and forest, ridges and grassland all the way towards Dhukpa. Overnight stay at teahouse in Dhukpa.

Trek from Dhukpa to Tarkeghyang (2,600 m/8,530 ft.) 5-6 hrs.
Today our day begins after having breakfast at teahouse. Our trekking trial descends through pine and Rhododendron forest and lush green vegetation all the way to Tarkeghyang which beautiful tiny settlement of Helambu region.On your arrival at Tarkeghyang, we visit the oldest Buddhist monastery and the popular Sherpa’s villages. We get an opportunity to experience the Sherpa’s culture, traditions and their friendly and cheerful natured hospitality. Overnight stay at teahouse in Tarkeghyang.

Tarkeghyang to Kakani (2,000 m/6,562 ft.) 3-5 hrs.
After having breakfast, we start our day slowly begins through the flat landscape following the beautiful forest of Rhododendron. Then we head towards the beautiful of Parachin and Ghangyul. Then we descend following the forest, streams and naturally exiting geographical variation towards another beautiful village of Sermanthang.
Sermanthang is a pretty Sherpa village popular as oldest and ancient monasteries. After enjoying our lunch at Sermanthang, we descend towards the beautiful village of Kakani. Kakani is a small village situated on the top hill with suburb panoramic views of Himalayas. Overnight stay at teahouse in Kakani.

Trek from Kakani to Melamchi Pul Bazaar (846 m/2,776 ft.) 3-4 hrs and drive to Kathmandu (1,320 m/4,330 ft.) 3-4 hrs.
Today is the last day of our trekking. After enjoying our breakfast, we start to descend down towards the Dubachaur village. The trial mostly takes us downhill via paddy fields until we reach the bank of Indrawoti River. Then we cross the small river before we reach the Melamchi Pul Bazaar. After enjoying our lunch at Melamchi Pul Bazaar we drive to Kathmandu valley which takes approximately 3-4 hours’ drive. On your Arrival at Bus station at Kathmandu you will be easy transfer towards your respective hotel. At evening, you have a farewell dinner hosted by Life Himalaya Trekking in a typical Nepalese Restaurant along with Nepalese traditional dance to celebrate the successful completion of our journey. Overnight stay at 3 star rated Hotel in Kathmandu.

Final Departure
Our adventurous journey ends today. Our representatives will easy transfer to you towards the International airport three hours before your flight schedule with a warm greetings and hospitality hopping you to see next time in Nepal. If you have more time in Nepal, we can also organize some additional activities like Mt. Everest Mountain Flight, Bungee jumping, Paragliding, Jungle safari and famous cities tours that you are interested in.

Fitness Levels and Difficulty

This climb is moderate in difficulty and involves some glacier travel and the use of crampons and an ice axe. However, no previous rock climbing or ice climbing experience is required. The Yala Peak stands at an elevation of 5,732 meters (18,803 feet), and the climb requires about six to seven days.
Weather and Conditions
The weather conditions in the Langtang region of Nepal vary depending on the time of year and the elevation. Generally, the region experiences a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
