day 02 Helicopter flight to Lukla, 2860 m, 45 minutes, and exploration of the village (Monastery, Tenzing Hilary Airport, and more)

The morning has come to initiate our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe) adventure. Very early in the morning, our guide will pick you up from your accommodation in a private transfer and take you to TIA.

Once we are through all the protocols (paperwork and security), the airport personnel will hand us our boarding passes. Once we are authorized to fly, we will head over to the TIA helipad and meet our pilot.

After a short briefing on safety guidelines, we will now get in our shuttle and get ready to fly. Our pilot will fly us east, and slowly the horizon starts to expand with the jagged peaks of Langtang, Dorje Lhakpa, Manaslu, and Kanchenjunga.

As time passes, shortly, we will be flying over the great geographic milestone, the Lamjura Pass (3550 m). Congratulations, we have now entered the true Everest region.

Devour the magnificent silent views of Lhotse and Everest, the two Khumbu giants. Now, our direction changes to north, and we slowly begin to descend to the 527 m very short runway of Lukla Airport.

The runway has 12% uphill gradient, thus offering an extra kick to our thrilling landing. As we unboard our heli, the thin cold Himalayan air will touch us and Mount Kongde Ri will stand tall upfront.

We will move ahead to settle in our hotel in Lukla. We will have plenty of time to explore this little yet very beautiful Sherpa hamlet. From our hotel, we can see the flight taking off and landing at the Lukla aka Tenzing Hilary Airport.

Sir Edmund Hilary supervised the construction of this airport in 1964, and it is definitely a spectacle to watch the small shuttle and aircraft taking off and landing. We can also walk to the perimeter fence to see its runway.

Next, we will visit the Lukla Kemgon Monastery, located just around a 15-minute uphill walk from the Lukla Airport. Here, we will see the traditional Tibetan Buddhist rituals and butter lamps, along with the beautiful Buddha statue.

Now we will go to see the Pasang Lhamu Memorial Gate, built as a large stone archway at the northern end of the village. It is dedicated to Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, the first Nepali woman to summit Mt. Everest.

Later in the evening, we can also walk around Lukla Market and enjoy coffee in a high-altitude cafe and bakery.

One of the visual attractions of our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe) has arrived. We will fly very early in the morning from Lukla and start to gain altitude.

We will trace the white currents of the Milk River- Dudh Koshi, and slowly, the terrain of the Sagarmatha National Park will begin to reveal itself. We will see the blue-tinned houses of Namche, the rocky landscape of Phorste, Pheriche, and the ancient heritage monasteries of Tengboche and Pangboche.

Notice the dramatic change of terrain below as we fly over the 4830 m rocky milestone of Dughla Pass. The Cho La Pass (5420 m), Pumori, Lobuche, and Khumbu Glacier will simply stand tall to steal your admiration.

We will keep gaining altitude, and soon we will see the stark high ground of Gorakshep. The Everest Base Camp is around the corner, resting right below the massive Khumbu Icefall.

We will fly further, and our pilot will prepare to land us gently along the black flat slope of Kala Patthar. Here, we will get around 25 minutes to see and capture the jagged high ridges of Nuptse, Khumbutse, Lobuche, Changtse, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Lingtren, and Mount Everest.

After this intense experience, we will now descend by our heli to the Everest View Hotel in Syangboche. This is the highest luxury hotel on the planet, listed even in the Guinness World Records.

After checking in, we will sit on its terrace and watch the white clouds dancing around Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Taboche, Cholatse, Lhotse, Nuptse, and many more.

We will now spend our afternoon in Khumjung Village, located only a short distance from the hotel. On our way, we will descend to the Syangboche Valley floor and pass by its small airstrip.

We will then walk through the sister village of Khumjung- Kunde and a small yak pasture. Once in the village, we will take a small tour of the ancient Khumjung Monastery, famous for housing the scalp of a Yeti stored in a glass case.

We will also explore the Edmund Hilary School, founded in 1961 by the legend himself. Returning through the long Mani Walls, we will reach our overnight destination, the Everest View Hotel.

day 04 Helicopter Flight to Lake Gokyo, 4750 m, exploration and breakfast at Gokyo Resort, and return flight to Namche Bazaar, 3440 m, 3 to 4 hours, exploration of Namche Bazaar

We have reached the masterclass of our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe) adventure. Today, we will transition from Khumbu to Gokyo Valley, the valley of crystal clear blue lakes and grey Himalayas.

We will fly from Everest View Hotel over the villages of Dole and Macchermo while we have a bird’s-eye view of Kangtega, Cho Oyu, and Thamserku.

In a short while, we will start to see the chain of Gokyo Lakes from above. At first, the turquoise first lake (Longponga) and second lake (Taujung) appear, followed by the third Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake.

We will land by the shore of the third lake and immediately see the famous ridge of Gokyo Ri (5,357 m) up front. We will walk to our breakfast at Gokyo Resort and move on to explore the upper lakes of Gokyo.

The fourth and fifth lakes – Gyazumpa Tsho and Ngozumpa Tsho are wilder and more remote. We will also walk beside the long, icy walls of the Ngozumpa Glacier, the longest one in Nepal.

We will now move back to Gokyo resort and take a flight back to Namche, where a beautiful, comfortable mountain lodge awaits to give us cozy shelter for the night.

In Namche, we will have enough time to see and learn the history of the Himalayas and the Sherpa community. We will take a small tour of the Sagarmatha National Museum, which is located on the high ridge above Namche.

We will learn about the park’s unique flora, fauna, and geology while also admiring Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Then we will head to the Sherpa Culture Museum, where we will see an extensive collection of ancient Sherpa artifacts and documentation of Sherpa climbers.

We will also head to Namche Monastery near the top of the village, where we can see the monks chanting, the intricate murals, and the statues inside.

It’s now time to return to our overnight hotel, but before reaching it, we will also explore the local market and enjoy our coffee in Himalayan Java.

Everest View Easy Hike With Helicopter Tour (Deluxe) - Essential Information

Best Season

Our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe) is a year-round tour, thus making it possible to undertake any day and at any time throughout the year.

However, if you wish to have the best immersion with the Himalayas of Khumbu, then autumn (September to November), Spring (March to May), and Winter (December to February) will be the golden times for this tour.

During autumn, the sky will be clearest, thus offering you the views of the peaks stretching over 100 km on the horizon. The weather will also be stable, calm, and deep blue, thus reducing the possibility of flight cancellations and guaranteeing a safe landing on Kala Patthar.

During spring, the afternoon can be a bit cloudy, but the Lukla, Namche, and Khumjung terrain will be super lush, filled with the blooming rhododendrons.

Plus, you will see the colorful tent city of Everest Base Camp from up above, as spring is the peak climbing season. On the other hand, winter is a hidden gem when you will have 100 % clearest sky all day, and you will have the entire Kala Patthar, Everest View Hotel, Khumjung, and Namche to yourself.

Likewise, the tour is also possible in the monsoon rain of June, July, and August; however, frequent rain and dark clouds will delay the heli flights or sometimes lead to cancellation.

But on the rain-free days, you will have the massive appearance of the silent Himalayas with spectacular terrain and landscape of Everest.

Difficulty Level

The difficulty level of our 6 days Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe) is classified as a moderate adventure where the trekking days are replaced with heli flights, with the inclusion of only short walking hours for the exploration of the overnight villages and towns.

Thus, the tour is accessible to anyone who has a basic level of fitness, including families with children, senior travelers, and first-time explorers.

The maximum elevation you will reach in this tour is when you are at Kala Patthar, but here, you will be on the ground only for 25 minutes, walking around and looking at the mountains.

Likewise, you will sleep at a maximum altitude of 3880 m at Hotel Everest View. Although the altitude is below 5000 m, but you may feel the thin air at the hotel and also when landing at Kala Patthar.

Therefore, our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe) is not a physically hard adventure but requires your quick adaptation to the high Himalayan environment of Khumbu.

Eligibility and Physical Fitness

To be a part of our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe), you do not need to be an athlete, but you definitely should be adventure-ready.

You should have good cardiovascular and respiratory health and should be able to cope with landing at Kala Patthar, its thin air, and low air pressure.

You should also be able to hike or wander on foot onto the uneven, rocky, and icy glacial terrain for short hours during landing and exploration in the villages.

If you possess a basic level of fitness, then certainly, this tour is available to active seniors in their 60s, 70s, or even 80s, children as young as 8 to 10 years old, and first-time travelers who have never hiked before.

However, kindly note that you must be medically cleared to participate in our luxury Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour if you have had recent surgeries, a history of respiratory issues, heart conditions, or significant hypertension, or if you are pregnant.

Also, if you are afraid to fly at high altitude, then you should also consider participating in our tour.

In terms of eligibility, there is no age criterion specified for the tour, but we recommend participants to be between 10 and 80 years old because of the high elevation terrain that we will be reaching in our 6 days Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe).

Training and Preparation for engaging in our Everest view easy hike with a helicopter tour (deluxe)

If you want to fully enjoy the experiences of our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe), then ensure that you improve your cardiovascular health and your endurance.

Through a simple exercise routine such as 30 to 45 minutes of brisk walking, swimming, or light cycling 3 times a week, treadmill exercise 3 to 4 times a week, 10–15 slow bodyweight squats, stair stepping, or playing sports you like, you can easily and quickly improve your heart and lung efficiency needed for landing and short hikes in high altitude terrain.

In addition, make a habit of drinking 3 to 4 liters of water daily so you can have a headache-free experience at Kala Patthar and Hotel Everest View.

Also, understand that helicopter flights may be dependent on weather conditions, which can suddenly change in the high Himalayan environment. Therefore, be prepared for occasional flight delays or cancellations and respect the decision made by your pilot.

Acute Mountain Sickness/AMS

There is always a milder risk and probability of altitude sickness or AMS in any Himalayan journey, be it a helicopter tour with an easy, short hike involved.

We have designed a very safe acclimatization strategy throughout our 6 days Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe) with your nights arranged at Lukla, Everest View Hotel, and Namche.

Likewise, during a helicopter landing at Kala Patthar, you will be exposed to the high altitude for only around 25 minutes, thus reducing the risk of serious AMS. However, you may feel a headache, immediate lightheadedness, or shortness of breath.

Some of you may also experience persistent headache, nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue, or difficulty sleeping, which are the early signs of AMS.

In such an event, you should at once notify our guide or pilot and go lower. You may also take Diamox (Acetazolamide) both as a therapeutic and preventive measure against AMS.

Kindly note that our team will always carry supplemental oxygen cylinders and a Pulse Oximeter to prevent and treat early AMS as soon as possible.

We kindly request that you keep hydrating yourself throughout the tour and prioritize high-calorie meals, along with avoiding alcohol and sleeping pills.

Permits Necessary for our luxury Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour

The Everest region is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major local administrative zone. Therefore, we must have two mandatory permits for engaging in any trip (trekking or heli tour) inside the Everest region, which are:

  • Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit:

This local permit has replaced the necessity of a TIMS card in the Everest region and is issued by the local municipality of Khumbu in Lukla. It costs NPR 3000 per person for foreign nationals.

  • Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit:

The helicopter landing zones that we have included in our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe): Kala Patthar and Hotel Everest View are situated within the Sagarmatha National Park.

Therefore, we must have the national park permit with us that costs NPR 3000 per person and is obtainable in Kathmandu or Lukla.

Kindly note that our team will manage all the administrative processes after you provide us with a digital copy of your passport and 2 passport-sized photos. Also, the total Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe) cost will cover all permit fees as well.

Travel Insurance

Kindly understand that travel insurance is a must-have document to finalize your permits and confirm your itinerary for our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe).

Although we will be traveling by safe helicopter flights during this adventure, but we will also be landing and spending nights at high Himalayan altitudes, where the circumstances can be unpredictable.

In such events, travel insurance will be critical for your safe evacuation and inexpensive medical care. When getting travel insurance for our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe), please confirm that your policy must cover altitudes up to 5700 m to 6000 m.

Also, ensure that your policy includes emergency helicopter evacuation with minimum coverage between $50,000 to $100,000 USD with a search and rescue clause.

Your insurance policy should also cover your medical expenses, including treatment for AMS and hospitalization. It should also compensate you in case of any tour cancellation, interruptions, delays, theft, or damage to your personal expensive items.

Accommodation and Food

In our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe), we have replaced the standard amenities and rugged simplicity of usual three-star hotels and mountain tea houses with Nepal’s most prestigious legendary accommodations in Kathmandu and premium lodges in the mountains.

In Kathmandu, living in a museum-like Dwarika’s hotel or Kathmandu Marriott Hotel will offer you contemporary luxury, royal service, and modern amenities in the peaceful corner of the capital.

And, in the thin air of Everest, Hotel Everest View will offer you a world-record overnight stay, while in Lukla and Namche Bazaar, most refined premium lodges will offer you alpine luxury and comfort.

In terms of meal arrangements, a delicious, healthy breakfast will be offered every morning across all locations included in our Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe).

Your lunches, dinners, and drinks will be at your discretion, so you have complete liberty to choose from your exclusive gourmet menu.

Transportation

We have employed a private format for all your transportation that will occur during your 6 days Everest view easy hike with helicopter tour (deluxe).

For helicopter transfers, we have chosen only modern-day high-performance shuttles capable of flying in the thin air of Khumbu and landing on the high platform of Kala Patthar.

Similarly, for all your airport arrival and departures, hotel transfer, and Kathmandu excursion, we will provide you with our private, spacious, air-conditioned vehicles only.
