This trek will also take us to Saraswati Kunda, Bhairav Kunda, Surya Kunda, and Ganesh Kunda. These are all religious hubs of Nepal where pilgrims from India and Nepal gather to experience religiosity.
After immersing in its pristine beauty and spirituality, we will then traverse to Laurebina Pass, standing tall at an altitude of 4610 m taking us to Ghopte village. We will then cross several cliffs, and small passes and arrive at Kutumsang, from where we will return to the capital.

Best season for Gosaikunda Helambu Trek
Without a doubt, the best season to embark on the Gosaikunda Helambu trek is spring and autumn. The months from March to May are spring, and the months from September to early December are considered autumn or fall. During spring months, the clear skies and constantly increasing temperature make traveling to Gosaikunda Helmabu a more viable option. The temperature ranging between 18 to 30 degrees makes the 4 to 7 hours walk much easier. In the autumn days, the temperature in Gosaikunda Helambu cab varies between 20 to 28 degrees Celsius.
In both of these seasons, you can walk the trail leading to rich forests covered by colorful flowers. If fortunate enough, you can even encounter the endangered red panda. You can even have the dazzling views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh, Himalchuli, and Dorje Lakpa.
The summer months, from June to August, follow the monsoon season in the Gosaikunda Helambu region. As it is, the area is wetter in comparison to other regions of Nepal. So opting to trek in these months can be a little bit difficult due to heavy rainfall, muddy and slippery trails, and worm and leech infestation in forests. However, if you are a nature lover, the time can be ideal as several waterfalls, streams, and rivers come alive in these months.
In winter months, from late December to February, the temperature can drop to -6 degrees Celsius. However, in comparison to higher altitude treks, the temperature is quite warmer so you can easily carry out this trek even in winter. The lakes and waterfalls are frozen, and the mountain passes are covered in thick snow, which can give you a genuine Christmas feeling.
Therefore, you can carry out the Gosaikunda Helambu trek in any season you like. We can arrange for your trek in any month you prefer with adequate care, safety techniques, and equipment. Connect with us for more details.
Gosaikunda Helambu Trek Difficulty
Gosaikunda Helambu trek is regarded as a moderately difficult trek in Nepal, with the highest elevation gain of 4610 m at Laurebina Pass. Although lying just 70 km away from Kathmandu, the Gosaikunda Helambu trek trails offer varied landscapes.
As your trek begins from Dhunche, you will walk through dense forest and eventually climb the pass. Remember, the Laurebia Pass, being at high altitude, is covered with snow most of the time. Therefore, when crossing the Pass, you need to be cautious. When retracing your path, you will have to cross several ridges and cliffs and pass through several small villages like Ghopte, Tharepati, and Kutumsang.
Each day hike of 4 to 7 hours needs you to be in a good state both physically and mentally. In addition, you should also be cautious about altitude sickness. A pre-training for cardiovascular training with swimming, climbing, walking, or running can significantly help you if you decide to go on the Gosaikunda Helambu trek.
Altitude sickness during Gosaikunda Helambu Trek
In Gosaikunda Helambu Trek, each day, you will gain an altitude till you retrace your steps to return to Kathmandu. As your trek begins on the 3rd day, you will significantly ascend the trail to reach Shin Gompa at 3330 m. The next day, you will arrive at Lake Gosaikunda, which stands still at 4380 m. On the 5th day of your trek, you will descend to Ghopte village by crossing the famed Laurebin Paass. Therefore, symptoms of acute altitude sickness may appear, such as headache, appetite loss, and dizziness.
If you feel such symptoms, half to 1 tablet of Diamox can always help. You need to inform our guide if your symptoms do not subside. He will make the appropriate decision for you. If the symptoms don’t subside, you may need to descend the trail.
Therefore, preventing altitude sickness is an important measure to avoid altitude sickness. So ensure you drink 2 to 3 liters of water each day. Also, you need to stay away from smoking and alcohol.
What to expect in Gosaikunda Helambu Trek?
