Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka
Moreover, Day 07 takes us closer to our ultimate goal of completing “The Highest Trekking Pass in the world”- Thorong La Pass (5,416m). Today we will reach Yak Kharka, crossing the 4000m altitude.
As we incline slowly and gradually, the pine trees start getting converted into coniferous shrubs and bushes, the air gets drier and drier, maybe it is a way to welcome you to the Himalayan Territory, and a way of introducing nature to you.
While snow-covered peaks start to take up all the aspect ratio of your eyes, and you don’t want to avoid seeing those beautiful mountains, we still have to take care of our health. After crossing the 4000m, our body needs to get lots of fluid, essential foods, especially carbs and protein and proper acclimatization and rest.
We will follow the principles of “Climb High and Sleep Low”. Each Day, our guide will recommend to go on a late afternoon/evening hike.
We can acclimatize to the high altitude of Annapurna circuit luxury trek, and climbing 50m-100m a day and returning to the camp, will help us to adjust our body with the weather, temperature and altitude of the Annapurna Circuit Trek Region.

Thorong Phedi, a mere 3-4 hrs trek from Yak Kharka, can be the deciding factor for the trek. After reaching the camp, we will do an acclimatization hike around the Phedi Village (4540m) and rest well.

Weather of the Annapurna circuit luxury trek
As, most of the High Trekking Routes in Nepal, the best time for Annapurna Circuit Trekking is March-May and October-November. While the route is open for most of the year, it might be closed for around a few weeks in Late December to Early February due to heavy snow, but a few avid travellers also enjoy that period to avoid trekking en masse, or enjoy the winter temperature, climate and snow.
Mostly the weather is calm and sunny throughout the trek, however, the higher you go up in the Circuit Trek of Annapurna, the wind starts catching up. The wind is dry and cold, so make sure your body and head, especially your eyes, ears, nose, and lips, are covered most of the time, to avoid dry and flaky skin and irritations.
Also, the UV rays are stronger the higher you go up, make sure to use SPF50++ sunscreen and use sunscreen that you have used before to avoid irritations.
