We didn’t have loads of time so it was perfect getting picked up from Kathmandu. We met Shiba who was very professional and introduced us to the guide and porter and even gave us free Life Himalaya tops. He was very relaxed and said the trek was very flexible and we could cut it short if we wanted.
The first day was only 30 mins drive from where we were staying so really convenient and we enjoyed walking through the forests in Shivapuri. It was a very steep start, but very relaxed with our friendly guide and porter who were happy to go at whatever pace and stop for breaks whenever. We enjoyed our stay at Chisapani with amazing views from the hotel and brilliant sunsets and sunrise.
The second day was much flatter but a long walk of 16miles, through the forests and then mostly on roads. We had a great stop for lunch at an eco farm for dhal bhat and ended up a steep walk to Nargakot. Here we had the most unexpected luxurious hotel, which perhaps we got from walking off season! This also had a great sunrise view in the morning.
The third day was around 8miles on the road to an ancient temple and then we were dropped off in Kathmandu.
We loved the trek and had a great time with our porter and guide who were brilliant, had good english and we really enjoyed chatting to them. Before we came, people were surprised we were going in January as it would be so cold but we throughly enjoyed the temperatures and did not need all our warm clothing as we expected. It was a bit cold at night, but the day temperatures of 20/25 degrees was great for walking and we wouldn’t have wanted it any hotter!
