Overview of Mardi Himal Trekking

Mardi Himal Trekking is the name of the long rising ridge and its summit (5,588m), that forms the southwesterly slope of Mt. Machhapuchhre, immediately below its vertical south face. The Mardi Himal Trek is a newly opened route and hidden treasure in the Annapurna region. Mardi Himal Trekking is one of the short and striking treks suitable for beginners to moderate trekkers, including families of minors.

This trek is the best destination to avoid the crowd. The marvelous Mardi Himal Trek in the Annapurna region offers an amazing view of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Manaslu ranges. Mardi Himal base camp, Landscapes, and Gurkha village are the major attractions of this trek.

Mardi  Himal Trek is about a long trip in the Himalayas with magnificent views of snowy peaks through small Nepali villages. During the trek, green forests, commercially pristine typical villages, Himalayan birds, wild and domesticated animals, Yak herder's traditional huts, distant views of the horizon, and smiling local people are always around you.

Trek to Mardi takes you via some of the interesting villages and will give you chances to experience how people live in the remote areas of Nepal.

Mardi Himal Trekking - Essential Information

Mardi Himal Trekking Route

The trek starts at Dhampus after an hour of driving from Pokhara. There is a trail through the jungle, at first up then rolling on the top of a ridge, there is a section just over halfway where the trail drops steeply and then slowly gains height and the edge and into Forest Camp (2600m).

The trail is primarily quite steep, leaving Forest Camp, but soon gets less sheer as you again get upon the ridge. The trail leaves Low Camp again in the jungle, but the trees soon start to get smaller, and after about one hour, trekking broke out of the jungle and onto the open ridge with mighty views of Machhapuchhre ahead and Annapurna South.

Continuing trekking along the ridge for another few hours to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and returning to High Camp makes a long day, but there is also a viewpoint about halfway for an imaging view.

Afterwards, we return all the way down to low camp. When we arrive at Siding, we will descend back to Pokahra by jeep.
