Best Season to Trek Doplo Region?

Trekking to the Dolpo region might be fun and challenging, but it can also impact your route, health, and the trails. But if you want to explore the trek in a fun and less complicated way, you should trek in the appropriate season.

Spring

The Spring season is one of the best trekking seasons in Nepal. The season starts in early March and ends in May. The season begins quite chilly since it starts right after the winter season. Flowers like rhododendrons, magnolias, pines, and forests will make your stressful trek more welcoming in the spring season. However, if you plan to trek in the Spring, you should book the trek since the trials and teahouses will be busy.

Autumn

You should trek in Autumn for mountainous treks like the Dolpo region. As the trek is in a remote area and passes through different terrains, you might want to see some of the stunning views of the mountains and skies. During the autumn, the color of the trees and leaves changes to brown, making the surrounding area look golden brown, especially at sunrise and sunset. However, at the end of the Autumn season in November, the weather starts getting chilly during the day. Still, the temperature decreases until freezing, so be prepared by packing all the woolen clothes. You can also carry all the necessary equipment like hiking boots, ropes, sleeping bags, etc.

The majestic views of the snowy mountains are unique in winter, especially in high-altitude trekking. Several factors make trekking in the winter season impressive, but various factors make the trek difficult, like the altitude, dynamic weather, and the chances of massive snowstorms and blizzards.

However, there is a challenge with flights from Nepalgunj to Juphal being canceled due to weather issues in the lowlands of Nepal.
