The Mera Peak Climbing Expedition is a thrilling and honorable journey to the core of the Everest region. The peak climaxes at 6,461m, the highest trekking peak in Nepal. Mera Peak Climbing Itinerary

For the very first day we happily welcome you at Nepal. At Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport on fresh arrival you will be warmly received and greeted by Life Himalaya Trekking representative and then with transfer to your hotels in the Kathmandu.

After checking in your hotel rooms and get refreshed and rest of the day you may have short excursion over the main places of Kathmandu. In evening, you will be introduced with your trek guide and trip briefing session in short at our Life Himalaya Trekking office, Thamel.

Then you’ll have the welcome dinner hosted by us at typical Nepalese Restaurant where you would be able to enjoy and taste the Nepalese cuisine. Overnight stay at 3 star rated Hotel in Kathmandu.

A free day in Kathmandu after your long flight from home countries, after having breakfast at given time our City guide will pick you up for sightseeing tour around Kathmandu which are enlisted in World Heritage Sites in UNESCO including Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swyambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar square.

Today we will start our day with an early morning flight to Lukla after breakfast at Hotel. The 35 minutes scenic flight takes us to Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla, the doorway of the Everest region.

Here at Lukla we will introduce you to our Porters and crew members. After a short meeting and introduction with the porters, we start our trekking journey through the off-the-beaten trial of Everest region passing jungle trial, cross he Handi Khola following typical Sherpa’s villages, green valley’s towards Surke village.

Then we continue our trek with the beautiful view of Kongde Ri and cross the Chutok la before reaching the small settlement of Paiya (Chutok). Overnight stay at tea-house in Paiya (Chutok).

Our day begins after having breakfast at the teahouse. Today our trek goes steep downhill. We cross the beautiful village of Paiya and leave the Khumbu region and entre towards the Hinku valley.

From here the trial is slippery until we cross the Kri la pass. We walk through rhododendron and bamboo forests on a narrow mountain trail with the incredible views of mountains.

Then we continue our trek to Panggom village where the typical Sherpa’s people used to farming. Overnight stay at tea-house in Panggom.

Today our day begins after having breakfast house at tea-house. We start trekking through rhododendron and pine forest to cross the Panggom La pass.

Then we ascend towards the steady path and able to see the mind blowing views of Mera Peak. Continuing our trek, we cross Peseng Kharka Khola and trek to reach the Ningsow villages od Sherpa’s. Overnight stay at teahouse in Ningsow.

We take our breakfast at teahouse and continue our trek. Our walk move forward and climb to uphills from Ningsow and descend for a while.

Then we climb some more to reach Ramailo Dana from where we can witness the outstanding views of Mera Peak and Salpa. After ascending and descending on our trail, we enter the Makalu Barun National Park.

On the way, if we are lucky, we might even come across the elusive Red Panda. Overnight stay at tea-house in Chhetra Khola.

Our day begins after having breakfast at Chhetra Khola. Our walk begins with the green forest walk on steep downhill trial. We walk towards the north on the main trail to Mera Peak.

Then we trek towards the Majang Khola, where we merge with another trail which moves alongside the Hinku Khola. Our trail moves straight ahead towards Tashing Ongma.

Then after, we continue our trek and cross the bridge over the Sanu Khola before reaching Kothe. Overnight stay at tea-house in Kothe.

Today our trek started along with the ridge of the Hinku Khola in the shadow of Mera Peak. We take lunch at Gondishung, the summer herders’ settlement in the west bank of the Hinku Drangka.

Then we pass through the old and ancient Lungsumgba monastery where we can find Mera Peak scripted in rock along with its route to reach Mera.

A short walk takes us to Thangnag, which is a temporary summer grazing area with primitive lodges and shops. Overnight stay at tea-house in Thangnag.

After having breakfast we leave Thangnag and follow the lateral moraine of Dig Glacier to Dig Kharka, which offers spectacular views of Charpate Himal.

Then the trail climbs through moraines to the snout of the Hinku Nup and Shar glaciers, and then climbs more steeply to Khare.

From here, we can see the northern face of Mera Peak which will be an amazing experience. After lunch we can hike in and around Khare Camp. Overnight stay at tea-house in Khare Camp.

Today we stop at Khare Camp to ensure proper altitude acclimatization. For staying active is very compulsory as well important on a high altitude trek.

Climbing high and sleeping low is considered as good way to acclimatize with your body so that there will not any altitude sickness problems during your trip. Today we will also have basic training to be prepared ourselves better for the Mera Peak climb.

Our peak climbing guide will help us for basic climbing techniques and demonstrate the best ways to use our climbing gears like the ice axes, harness, ascender climbing boots and crampons.

The training will also include learning the best climbing technique with the rope where we will be pre-climbing training up to Mera Base Camp. Overnight stay at tea-house in Khare Camp.

Today is the most challenging and adventurous day on our trip. We walk through a boulder-strewn course on a steep trail to reach the Mera Peak Base Camp.

From here, we continue further through the Mera La pass to reach the Mera High Camp. Our path is along a rocky trail, which can be hazardous if it has recently snowed, as there are a number of crevasses here.

We make our way to the top of the rock band, which is marked by a large cairn. Then we set up a high camp while enjoying excellent views of Mt. Everest, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, the south face of Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamlang and Baruntse. Overnight stay at Camp tent in Mera High Camp.

This is a really important day for the expedition. We wake up around 2 am in the morning for breakfast. It’s going to be very cold in the beginning but soon we warm up as we continue up the glacier and onto a peculiar ridge.

The first rays of the sun hit the big peaks in an amazing red glow. The route is still non-technical as we slowly climb higher into the ever-thinning air. The slope steepens for a section behind the ridge and the summit comes back into view.

At the foot of the final steep summit cone, we may use a fixed rope if the climbing leader believes it’s required. The summit is only a few meters away.

From the summit, we take in spectacular views of the mighty Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Cho-Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, Kangchenjunga, Nuptse, Chamlang, Baruntse and other mighty of peaks in the Everest region.

We spend short time at the summit, and then our steps back to the high camp where we rest for a while and descend following the same route back to Khare via Mera base camp. Overnight stay at tea-house in Khare Camp.

There is no guarantee that we will have favorable weather on our planned day for the summit. Therefore, this day is set aside as a contingency in case we are unable to summit the Mera on the desired day due to bad weather conditions or any other unanticipated reason.

This day is reserve taking such kinds of risk in our adventurous journey to Mera peak climbing. However, if the trip goes smoothly, this day will not be required.

Our day begins after having breakfast at Khare Camp. We start trekking down on Hinku valley today. We trek from Khare to Kothe along with the same trail we used previously.

Then we slowly descend enjoying the breathtaking Himalayan vistas towards the beautiful settlement of Kothe. Kothe is famous for its local homemade delicacies and wines. Overnight stay at tea-house in Kothe.

Today we begin our trek to Thuli Kharka after breakfast. Our trial passes through rhododendron forest and goes uphill on very first sections. We climb up and descend, cross several tributaries of the Inkhu Khola before reaching a forked trail nearby Taktho.

Then we choose the trail which passes by Chorten after which we walk downhill on a steep trail to reach the Thuli Kharka valley. Overnight stay at tea-house in Thuli Kharka.

Our day begins from Thuli Kharka after having breakfast. We back towards the gate way of Khumbu region- Lukla today. On the way to Lukla, we cross the Zatrwa-La pass at altitude of (4,610m/ 15,125 ft.) above the sea level.  From Zatrwa La pass we walk all the way down to Chutang valley.

As soon as we cross the pass, after  2 hours walk we would able to see the view of beautiful Lukla valley which is surrounded by breathtaking views of mountain like Cho Oyu, Kongde Peak, Numbur Himal, Kusum Khangru, and other mighty of peaks.

Then we enjoy our last dinner in the Himalayas of Nepal  with our expedition crew members and porters. Overnight stay at tea-house in Lukla.

Today last day with your Sherpa porter and crew members so, if you are happy with their services you may give them some gratitude.

Then we take the earliest possible flight back to Kathmandu with the long-lasting memories of our successful trip completion. We enjoy short and scenic 35 minutes breathtaking flight to Kathmandu.

Upon your arrival at domestic Airport in Kathmandu our representative or guide will take you towards your respective hotels where you can relax and take rest.

Rest of the day is reserved for your personal activities such as souvenir shopping, massage, city tour and so on. Overnight stay at 3 star rated hotel in Kathmandu.

Mera Peak Climbing - Essential Information

Mera Peak Climbing begins with a sightseeing tour of the historical Kathmandu city. Then our trip is followed by a scenic flight to Lukla– the gateway of the entire Everest Region from Kathmandu.

After landing at the airstrip at Lukla, we start our trek journey that heads through the less crowded terraced landscape and untouched valley as well as charming villages of Paiya inhabited by Sherpa people. Then our trek follows through some of the most beautiful habitats toward Panggom valley.

Moving further our trek continues through the beautiful untouched valleys of Ningsow, Chetrekhola, Kothe, Thangnag and towards the Khare Camp. We stop at Khare Camp to ensure proper altitude acclimatization to stay active. After that, you will get pre-climbing training at Mera Base Camp.

Our walk passes through frozen waterfalls, amazing glaciers, and stunning views of the high Himalayas to reach the Mera High Camp.

We attempt a final climb to the summit of Mera Central Peak. The summit day starts early in the morning where we ascend up towards summit point via the northern route.

This involves a gradual climb with our properly equipped climbing gears, taking weather conditions into consideration, and following the footsteps and guidance of our experienced climbing experts towards the summit of Mera Peak.

From the Mera Peak summit, we will able to see the outstanding panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Baruntse, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, and many other peaks in the Everest region.

We spend a short time at the summit; we descend following the same route back to Khare via Mera Base Camp. After a successful summit of Mera Peak, we descend gradually through Kothe, Thulikharka, and via Zatrwa La pass back to Lukla. Then we again take a scenic flight back to Kathmandu.

How hard is the Mera Peak Expedition?

Mera Peak Climbing is an Alpine Grade PD (Slightly Difficult). You don’t need to have a lot of mountaineering experience to complete the climb. How hard is Mera Peak Climbing?

Although Mera Peak (6,461 m/21,190 ft) is the highest climbing peak in Nepal, it is not hard to climb. It is not necessary to have the prior climbing experience to climb Mera Peak.
