Short trek that can be enjoyed by all age groups : Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, also popularly known as Annapurna Sunrise Trekking, or Annapurna Panorama Trekking, is one of the most popular and relatively easy treks that meander through the beautiful ethnic villages of Annapurna Region. Ghorepani poonhill trek

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara(900m)

Today we drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (900 m) on tourist bus via Prithivi highway enjoying the natural beauty and riverside drive on the way. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 2: Drive to Nayapul then trek to Tikhedhunga

We will have an early morning drive to Nayapul (1070m) from where our trekking starts. The trek from here to Tikhedhunga takes about five hours. Along the way we will pass villages like Birethanti and Hile. You can observe the nature along with very authentic cultural lifestyle of the people. The trail is shared by the horse caravans which are the primary way of transporting goods and material to the higher places. Overnight at Tikhedhunga at Teahouse Lodge.

Day 3: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2810m)

After breakfast we start our trek to Ghorepani. We will pass through many suspension bridges and small villages along the way. After crossing the bridges the trial gets steeper till large Magar village called Ulleri (2070m). During this climb Magnificent Annapurna South (7219m) and Mt. Fishtail (6997m) can be seen. It will take around six hours walk to reach Ghorepani form Tikhedhunga. Overnight at Ghorepani at teahouse Lodge.

Day 4: Ghorepani to Tadapani (2630m)

The sunrise seen from Poonhill is awesome so we ramble up to the top (3210m) around two hours early in the morning to witness the sunrise. On a clear day we can observe mountains like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The sunrise is very mighty and mesmerizing. The Mount Fishtail along with other mountains shine and sparkle as the sunlight rays hit them. After viewing the sunrise we hike back to Ghorepani for breakfast and get ready for our next destination Tadapani (2630 m). The route passes through pine forest with occasional view of Annapurna South. This takes around six hours to reach Tadapani. Overnight at a teahouse lodge in Tadapani.

Day 5: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m)

After a trek of just about three hours we reach Ghandruk (1940 m). Ghandruk is a beautiful Gurung village located in the Annapurna region. From here you can see Annapurna south, Himchuli and Machapuchhre. This place is very rich in Gurung culture and tradition. Overnight at a lodge in Ghandruk.

Day 6: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara

Today we will be returning down the trek to Nayapul where our vehicles will be waiting for us. Then we drive to Pokhara and will be staying at Pokhara this night.

Day 7: Back to Kathmandu

Mr. Shiba Hari Rijal was born in the Dhading district of Nepal. He finishes his school level from Shree Bachhala devi higher secondary school in his own village. After finishing high school, he came to Kathmandu and join a college of Geography and travel/tourism; also join trekking. Firstly, he started his trekking as a porter, and then he became a guide. He used to work as a manager in 2 different companies. Because of his hard work, he is now the founder of his own company life Himalaya trekking.
