Best season for the trek

The trek is difficult during the winter due to the extremely cold weather. The months from December to February are extremely cold to travel.

The trek is not favorable during summer or monsoon. The months of July and august especially are not suitable for the trek. In these months, the route will be affected heavily by the rain hence making the road slippery and hard to trek through.

Permits required

Traveling from Salleri to Everest base camp, you will require some permits to travel along the way without any complications. These permits are mainly for the purpose of protecting the area and its resources from any kind of danger.

While trekking along the Salleri to Everest base camp trekking route, you can travel to Sagarmatha national park. This requires you to have Sagarmatha National Park permit. This proves that you are there on the trek and pose no harm to anyone or anything. This permit will cost NPR 3000 per person.

Apart from the Sagarmatha National Park permit, you will need Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit. This permit is only available on reaching the destination. The permit costs NPR 2000 per person. This is the permit that replaced the TIMS card.

You will need your passport to fill out the forms for both permits. The permits are available on the spot and must be paid in local currencies.

Detailed Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel

On the very first day of the Salleri to Everest base camp trekking, we will pick you up from the airport. From the Tribhuvan international airport, you will be transferred to the hotel where you will be staying for the night.

Day 2: Transfer to Salleri

After washing off your jet lag with your stay at the comfortable hotel, we will venture to Salleri on the second day. Today we will travel by jeep for about 9-10 hours and reach Salleri. We will stay at the lodge in Salleri for the night. The town is at an altitude of 2390 meters.

Day 3: Trek to Nunthala

On the morning of the third day, the true trekking adventure awaits us. The Salleri to Everest Base Camp trekking starts now. Finally, we will head on a 6 hours trek to Nunthala from Salleri. There we will stay the night at a lodge.

Day 4: Nunthala to Bupsa Danda

The fourth day will be yet another trek of 6-7 hours where we reach an altitude of 2160 meters. Today we will reach Bupsa danda.

Day 5: Bupsa to Surke

Today the trek will take us to Surke at an altitude of 2290 meters. This will need around 6-7 hours of walking.

Day 6: Surke to Monjo

Today a 6 hours walk on steep trails will take us to Monjo. The destination is at a height of 2735 meters. From this day on, we will be taking on a rather steep road ahead of us.

Day 7: Monjo to Namche Bazaar

The very next day we shall walk for about 4 hours and reach an altitude of 3440 meters. We will stay at Namche bazaar at a lodge for the night.

Day 8: Namche Bazaar Hike to the Hotel

Today we shall hike from Namche bazaar to our hotel. This will take us about 6-7 hours. On the way, we will hike to Khunde and Khumjung village where you can see the traditional lifestyle of the people along with their culture that makes this route so much more closer to the people.

Day 9: Namche to Tengboche Monastery

After resting yourselves, we will embark on the journey to reach the Tengboche Monastery from Namche. This monastery is at a height of 3900 meters. It is one of the many sherpa monasteries which show the religion and culture of the sherpas in the region. After bathing in the religious and cultural journey we will accommodate for the night at a nearby lodge.

Day 10: Tengboche to Dingboche

From the monastery through the rhododendron forest, a walk of 4-5 hours will take us to Dingboche. At a height of 4410 meters, Dingboche is a small Sherpa village. We will rest at a lodge nearby for the night.

Day 11: Dingboche Acclimatization Day

Popular as an acclimatization point among tourists, today we will hike around Dingboche and have an acclimatization day. This is an official acclimatization point for Everest Base Camp via Salleri. Here we will adjust to the altitude as it gets higher ahead. This helps us avoid altitude sickness.

Day 12: Dingboche to Lobuche

After adjusting to the altitude, we will now head to Lobuche at an altitude of 4900 meters. We will walk for 5-6 hours today to reach our destination and rest at the lodge in Lobuche.

Day 13: Lobuche to Gorakshep via Base Camp

On the 14th day, we finally reach our destination of Salleri to Everest Base Camp trekking. We reach Everest Base Camp and enjoy the view and the beauty of the place. We will hike to Gorakshep at a height of 5140 meters and finally reach the base camp at 5364 meters. This will take us 7-8 hours.

Day 14: Gorekshep to Pheriche

Now we will start our descent back to Pheriche. We will walk for 6-7 hours today. On the way back to Pheriche, we will visit Kalapattar Viewpoint at an altitude of 5540 meters in Pheriche, we will stay at a lodge for the night.

Day 15: Periche to Namche Bazaar

Our descent continues to Namche Bazaar where we can see the overflowing culture and lifestyle of the Sherpas and various local products.

Day 16: Namche Bazar to Lukla

After a walk of about 6-7 hours, we will reach Lukla today. We are done with walking for the trip. The trekking part of the trip is over.

Day 17: Flight Back to Kathmandu

The main highlight of the Salleri to Everest Base Camp trekking is due today. Today we will fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. The flight is popular for its exhilarating scenic experience that you get. You can clearly see the valley and the towns on the way.

Day 18: Farewell and an Extra Day

The trip is almost over now. On the second last day of the trip, we will provide you proper farewell dinner in the Nepali way with the cultural food and vibe. Today you can visit Kathmandu freely at your own expense.

Day 19: Final Departure to the Airport

This marks the end of our trekking experience. Today your Salleri to Everest Base Camp trekking will end with your departure to the airport. You will end the trip with many memories of the trip etched into your heart.
