Nepal, a truly magical place often taken as heaven on Earth is one of the richest countries in flora and fauna, cultural diversity, geography and many more. Due to which Nepal is popular for adventurous activities like Trekking, hiking, sight-seeing, etc. As rich in every aspect of adventure, history and culture Nepal has more hidden facts about history, tours and trekking. Here are some of the facts about trekking in Nepal.

Geographical facts:-

  • Nepal has a total of 118 types of an ecosystem out of 120 ecosystems around of the world.
  • Although having a small geographical area, 42% of the land is occupied by forest and second richest country in water resources as well.
  • Nepal can mainly be classified into 3 geographical regions: Himalayan (19%), Hill (64%) and Terai (17%).
  • The lowest point of Nepal has an altitude of 70m and the highest point is 8848m from sea level.
  • Nepal is home to 8 out of 10 highest mountain of the world including the highest mountain Mt.Everest (8848m) and third highest mountain Kanchenjunga (8586m)
  • Nepal also has world highest hotel, The Everest view(3964m); highest lake Tillicho lake (4800m); Arun valley is the world highest valley that is located in between Sagarmatha and Makalu-Barun National Park

Population facts.

  • According to statistics, the population of Nepal is about 29.3 million.
  • About 81.3% of the total population follows Hinduism, 9.0%  are Buddhist, 4.4% are Muslim 3% are kirants,1.4% are Christians and remaining population follows other religions like Sikhs, Jains, etc.
  • Even though the majority of the population is Hindu, Nepal is a secular country and all the religions are given equal rights and validation.
  • In addition, there are 125 castes of people residing in Nepalese societies speaking 123 languages.
  • The main language of Nepal is Nepali.

Natural resources:-

  • Nepal is the second richest country in the world in water resources. About 6000 river flow in Nepal which does not dry in any season.
  • 19% of the total landmass of Nepal is occupied by national parks conservation areas and wildlife reserve. There are 10 national parks, 6 conservation areas, and 4 wildlife reserves.
  • The main treks in Nepal are:- Everest Base Camp Trek, Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Manaslu  Circuit Trek, Upper Mustang trek, etc.
  • In addition, The Himalayan range of Nepal is the youngest Himalayan range in the world.

In conclusion, Nepal is a small country sandwich in between big two countries India, but its a country that is fully filled with natural and cultural as well.

Mr. Shiba Hari Rijal was born in the Dhading district of Nepal. He finishes his school level from Shree Bachhala devi higher secondary school in his own village. After finishing high school, he came to Kathmandu and join a college of Geography and travel/tourism; also join trekking. Firstly, he started his trekking as a porter, and then he became a guide. He used to work as a manager in 2 different companies. Because of his hard work, he is now the founder of his own company life Himalaya trekking.
