What kind of food and drink is good for health for Everest Base camp trekking? How is the quality of Food and drink in Everest?

Eating Meat is good or Bad ?
Firstly you must know that Nepal is the birthplace of Gautam Buddha and People from Everest Region are Buddhist so slaughtering animals for food is strictly prohibited.
Yes, Meat is available in Everest but it is better not to eat. All the Meats are carried by locals about 4-5 days or flown from Kathmandu to get in Hotel. Which might lose the quality and also meat needs more energy to digest so it’s better not to eat meat.
Can we get good quality food ?
Quality of foods might be the problem for trekkers because everything is delivered by carrying. We cannot get fresh food in the mountain area like in the city area. You should compromise on the food. It’s better to stay in a hotel where the guide takes. Always ask the guide for what kind of food better in that place. The food also depends upon on which season are you trekking.

What kind of Drinks are available in Everest Region?
Any kinds of drinks are available in the Everest region, it might be a little expensive but everything. It’s not bad to take tap water with tablets but for the more health safety, it’s better to have bottled water. Bottle water cost in low altitude is 2 $but in high altitude, it ranges from 3 to 6 $ but health is more important than money. In Lobuche and Gorakshep please we highly recommend that to have bottle water because in such altitude tap water may contain more bacteria.
Due to the high altitude, we must drink 3-4 litres water to avoid altitude sickness.
You can drink Alcohol but we do not recommend you to drink after Namche Bazaar. It might make you a week and due to the hangover might cause Altitude sickness.
You can get tea, coffee in Every place you stay that comes with different sizes.
In conclusion, Please do not drink Alcohol after Namche Bazaar. Use bottle Water and drink about 3-4 litres per day.
About Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Everest Region is not like other rural regions, Where less number of tea houses and you might not get a chance to have a launch.
In Everest, There are lists of tea houses are available so for the breakfast, launch and dinner guide will decide for the best tea house.
What can i eat in Breakfast during Everest Base Camp trek?
Normally they serve you with tea, porridge, eggs, toast etc for breakfast. There will be a menu for the breakfast, you can order whatever you liked from the menu but please NO MEAT!!
What can i eat in Lunch during Everest Base Camp Trek ?
For lunch also you have a choice from the given menu. For Everest, Most popular Dishes are Dal Bhat (Nepal food), Pasta, Sherpa stu, Pizza, Noodle soup. Dal Bhat is the most popular Nepali food that gives you the energy to walk. Having a garlic soup in Lunch will prevent the Altitude sickness.
What can i eat in Dinner during Everest Base Camp Trek ?
The dinner menu is the same as the lunch menu. Most people arrive at the tea houses at 5-6 pm. After arriving at the tea houses you can order dinner. Your accommodation is always pre-booked by our guide. You don’t have to worry about accommodation.
