EBC trek is an iconic multi-day trekking route situated in the Himalayan mountains region of Nepal. The Everest Base Camp Trek route offers spectacular mountain views and passes through a variety of diverse environments, ranging from lush green pastures to icy rocky glaciers. Along the way, you will explore breathtaking landscapes, stroll around Sagarmatha national park, and visit monasteries and Sherpa villages. The length of the trek depends on individual fitness levels and personal preferences, but it generally takes 12-15 days for roundtrip completion.

Length and Duration

The Everest Base Camp Trek provides an incredible, yet strenuous journey up to the famous base camp on Mount Everest. Travelers face the challenge of 80 miles (130km) of the high-altitude route. It normally takes between 12 and 15 days to complete. Starting from Lukla, trekkers will experience long days of walking and acclimatization with rest days continuing along the same path.

We plan out the typical itinerary in smaller daily sections of 8-10 miles (13-16km) each. 15 kilometers per day is not that terrible because you realize that the average walking speed is around 5 kilometers per hour. The difficult terrain, steep rise, and significant elevation gains that need to be achieved will prevent you from trekking at that speed, of course. However, We can complete this trek at a comfortable pace below the average trekking speed. For this reason, mental preparedness will be very important while trekking. Hence, Mentally prepared people who are engaging in regular physical activity can complete this trek.

From there, you will take a couple-hour hike on a winding path through the picturesque landscape to Tengboche Monastery before going further up to Dingboche.  The next day, you will cross Imja Khola and trek towards Dingboche. The trail joins the Thugla pass from Dingboche and brings you toward Lobuche.

Finally, on the following day from Lobuche, you will trek through the Khumbu glacial path towards Gorakshep and to Everest Base Camp, the ultimate destination of this trek. Following the day, you will also make it to Kalapatthar(5545m), the trek’s highest point.

Elevation

EBC trek is the high altitude trek.  It is appropriate for individuals with previous high-altitude trekking experience. From the first day of the trek, trekkers will embark on their EBC trek from Lukla which locates at 2680m from the sea level. We have included a few acclimatization days in the program because most people are not accustomed to this altitude.
