Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular trekking destinations among altitude lovers in Nepal. This trek is most adventurous challenging base camp trek of located in north-west of Annapurna in Western Nepal. This base camp trek is situated at altitude above 4,750m on the lap of the World 7th Highest Mountain Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m) the world which is separated from the Annapurna ranges and the Kali-Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world.

Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek - Essential Information
Trek Route
Our 25 days Dhaulagiri base camp trek begins with a scenic drive from capital city Kathmandu to Beni via Pokhara. Our trek begins started to gain higher elevation following the Kaligandaki River passes through cultivated fields connected to the small villages to Babiachaur. Then the trail leads to mind-blowing trekking route ascends the lovely, unspoiled valley of Dharapani passing forest of rhododendron, pine and oak on the way. Further upwards lays walking through villages, sparse forest and terraces journey takes us uphill to a small village named Muri. Then we descend gentle slope, crossing rocky stream and the river we climb up the mountainside to reach Baghar. Continuing our trek we leave the villages behind and open up for a challenging trek towards Dobang. The climb begins to get tougher after Dobhan, as we ascend to Sallaghari and to the Italian Base Camp. Along with difficult route covered by bamboo forest and after crossing suspension bridge and jungles, we reach Glacier Camp (4,940m). Finally, we trek to the journey on the rough towards our chilling and spectacular destination to reach Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4,740m). Dhaulagiri base camp trek continues through very high challenging passes, crossing over the French pass (5,360m) and Thapa pass (5,200m). The most beautiful sceneries wait at the base camp of Dhaulagiri at French passes and at the Hidden valley then after the Thapa peak offers another stunning view which have to be scaled before you descend a winding trail to Yak Kharka. After crossing high pass we descend to join the Annapurna Circuit trial at the charming village of Marpha, a small town inhibited by a mixed community of Buddhist and Hindus as well-known as popular city of Mustang district. Then we trek from Ghasa through the Rukse waterfall and hot springs to Tatopani. Following the classical Annapurna trail passing through small villages on the way, crossing the Kali-Gandaki River with stunning view of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna massif we reach Ghorepani. Then we climb to Poon Hill in early morning to see spectacular sunrise towards the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Massif and trek to the Tadapani. Then we take a short route to Ghandruk village to explore the culture and hospitality of the Gurung community and follow the stone staircase and steep down trail to reach Pothana village. Again we trek descend the trial down to Dhamphus Phedi and short drive to Pokhara. Lastly, the final and scenic drive or flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu concludes the trek.

Regarding flight in the mountain region
Mostly twin otter is the most common means of air transportation in the Nepalese sky and during the flight in the Himalayan region of Nepal the flight schedule is cancelled and change from time to time due to poor visibility, weather condition and many other technical problem. In such case we would charter helicopter for our guest regarding schedule of their international flight and for the different problem arise in the trek. The charter cost should be paid at head office of Tourist link Trek at Thamel and later on you can claim with your travel insurance.
As per Nepal Civil aviation rules the helicopter will fly, if the visibility is up to 1500m and visibility should be 5000m for flying Twin Otter in Nepalese sky.
