Kathmandu - Cultural Heritage Exploration

After the breakfast we will begin with a guided cultural tour within Kathmandu valley. Nepal has some of the most important historical and religious sites that we will visit today. Kathmandu Durbar Square will be our first destination, an ancient complex of royal palaces where temples, inner yards, and various traditional buildings are located that ensure the historical background of the city.

We will then visit Boudhanath Stupa which is among the largest Buddhist stupas across the globe. A very special environment is brought by the peaceful atmosphere and colourful prayer flags.

We will still proceed to Pashupatinath Temple, the greatest Hindu temple in Nepal, later. The temple is along Bagmati River that is used in religious rituals and cremation ceremonies. We will observe the cultural and spiritual life as an enclosure of this sacred place, through a respectful viewing area.

Premium Nepal Tour – 9 Days Trip Information

Weather and Best Season

Nepal has different travel seasons throughout the year, but Spring and Autumn are generally regarded as the best seasons to travel around Nepal. During the Spring from March to May the weather starts to get warmer and flowers begin to bloom everywhere on the hills and valleys. Skies are often clear, which means the travelers can enjoy views from the mountains and comfortable sightseeing conditions. Autumn in the months from September to November is another good time with stable weather, nice temperatures and very good views of the Himalayan ranges.

Many travelers choose this time to join a Premium Nepal Tour because the climate is generally comfortable for exploring cities, enjoying hilltop viewpoints, and visiting national parks. The winter period between December and February is colder, although in the morning and evenings, the skies tend to be clear and the sceneries are spectacular. June to August summers attract monsoon rains that may slow down the travel but also offer the lush green sceneries and low number of people. Each season has its own charm, and this Nepal Premium tour package can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Visa and Entry Requirements

Most international travellers can get a tourist visa for Nepal on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. The process of obtaining a visa is easy and usually does not take long at the airport immigration counter. The travelers will need a valid passport, a passport size photograph and visa fee that is normally paid in cash. A 15 days tourist visa costs USD 30, however longer durations of the visa are also available in case the travelers are planning to spend more time in Nepal.

Before joining the Premium Nepal Tour, it is important to make sure that your passport remains valid for at least six months beyond your travel date. Our team will assist with any permits or entry tickets required for heritage sites and national parks included in this Nepal Premium tour package. The visitors are also expected to carry a copy of their passport/visa as they travel. These are documents which can occasionally be required to access some secure places or hotel check in.

Health and Safety

Generally, Nepal is a safe destination where a person can visit, and this trip has been organized to be a comfortable and safe one. The itinerary of the Premium Nepal Tour stays at relatively low altitudes, so altitude sickness is not a concern during the trip. Nevertheless, it is always advisable to keep hydrated, consume freshly cooked foods and rest in the course of the travel.

Travelers should consume bottled or filtered water instead of tap water. It is also good to have basic personal medications and to use sunscreen when doing outdoor activities. While visiting wildlife areas like Chitwan National Park, all guests should always follow the guidelines of their naturalist guides to stay safe around the animals and the surrounding environment.

Nepalese people are friendly and welcoming towards the visitors. When passing by cities and markets, it is prudent to know what is on hand and exercise normal precaution when in transit. Our guides and team members are always available to assist travelers throughout this Nepal Premium tour package, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable journey.

Transportation

The journey has been organized to be comfortable and efficient through transportation. Travelers joining this Nepal Premium tour package will travel in private vehicles for most road journeys. These are air conditioned vehicles with skilled local drivers who know the roads and the roads in Nepal.

To reduce travel time between major destinations, the Premium Nepal Tour also includes a short domestic flight between Kathmandu and Pokhara. This scenic flight typically lasts about 25 minutes and usually offers wonderful views of the Himalayan mountains from the sky. Airport transfers at the start and end of the trip are also included.

In Chitwan National Park, wildlife activities transportation is different from city transportation. Visitors will have an opportunity to visit the park by jeep safari or by canoes on the river. All these activities are guided by trained naturalist guides who assist travelers in safely viewing the wildlife and also learn about the natural environment.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is a necessary requirement to make this journey. Before participating in the Premium Nepal Tour, travelers should arrange a travel insurance policy that covers medical treatment, emergency evacuation, and unexpected travel interruptions. Although the tour itinerary does not go to high altitude, having insurance gives you an additional security in case of illness, accidents or travel delays.

The insurance plan must cover adventure related activities that may occur during the trip like wildlife safaris or outdoor tours. The policy is also advised to allow cancellations of trips, loss of baggage and delays in flights. The presence of such protections will make the journey more relaxed and calm to travelers.

Before the start of the Nepal Premium tour package, travelers are usually asked to provide basic insurance details such as the policy number and emergency contact information. It is to enable our team to assist you promptly in case there is some unforeseen circumstance on the trip.

Trip Extension

Many travelers choose to extend their journey after completing the Premium Nepal Tour because Nepal offers many additional destinations and experiences. We can easily add couple of more days to visit some other regions of the country, given more time. The most popular extensions are to spend longer days in Kathmandu Valley to go sightseeing Patan, Bhaktapur or the nearby hill points.

Some travelers also enjoy taking a short Himalayan trek after completing this Nepal Premium tour package. The beautiful mountain scenery and the local village experience can be easily accessed through easy trekking routes around Pokhara or the Everest region. And in case people are interested in nature and wildlife, it is also possible to spend more days in Chitwan or to visit another national park like Bardia.

Nepal can also be combined with other neighbouring destinations in either Bhutan or Tibet. These extensions will provide you with the deeper cultural and Himalayan traveling experience. We can assist with arrangements and planning any additional travels that you plan to make to make your travels an easy one.

Your Extra Expenses

While most services are included in the Premium Nepal Tour, travelers should plan for some personal expenses during the trip. These can involve any meal not mentioned in the itinerary, beverages like coffee, soft drinks or alcohol and personal expenses like souvenirs or local handicrafts.

Visitors must also be prepared to pay for Nepal tourist visa on arrival at the airport. Personal expenses like laundry service, snacks or any other optional activity are not included in the tour price. Some travellers also prefer to experience more with a scenic mountain flight route from Kathmandu that can be arranged during the trip.

Tipping is also another cost that travelers typically take into consideration. Although it is not compulsory it is a common expression of gratitude to guides, drivers and hotel staff. Budgeting a small daily amount for tips during this Nepal Premium tour package is usually recommended.

Language and Communication

Nepal is a diverse country with numerous local languages, but Nepali is the national language spoken by a majority of people. In the major cities and tourist areas English is widely understood, particularly by hotel staff, guides and those working in the travel industry. Travelers joining the Premium Nepal Tour usually find communication easy throughout the journey.

Your guide at the time of the trip will speak fluent English and will help you communicate with people whenever necessary. Learning a few basic Nepali greetings can also make interactions with local people more enjoyable. Words like “Namaste” for greeting, “Dhanyabad” for thank you are commonly used and appreciated by locals.

Most hotels included in this Nepal Premium tour package provide free Wi Fi, allowing travelers to stay connected with friends and family. Mobile networks are also available in the main cities and in many rural areas and visitors can easily buy a local SIM card with a data service if required.

Don’ts on This Trip

When travelling in Nepal it helps to respect the traditions and cultural practices of the people. While visiting temples, monasteries, and religious sites during the Premium Nepal Tour, travelers should dress modestly by covering shoulders and knees. Shoes should be removed when entering temples or some sacred places always.

It is also important not to drink untreated tap water. Instead, travelers should use bottled or filtered water while traveling. When visiting villages or cultural sites, asking permission to take photographs of people is considered polite and respectful.

During wildlife activities in Chitwan National Park, guests should always stick to the group and listen to the instructions of their naturalist guides. Approaching animals or wandering from the group is not allowed. Respecting these simple guidelines helps travelers enjoy the Nepal Premium tour package safely while honoring local customs and traditions.

Photography and Drone Rules

Nepal has huge opportunities to take great pictures. Travelers will find impressive temples, colorful cultural scenes, mountain landscapes, and wildlife during the Premium Nepal Tour. Photography is usually permitted at most outdoor places and vista points.

However, it is important to be respectful when taking photos of people or of religious activities. Tourists need to request permission to get close shots of the locals, particularly in the villages or during rituals. Not all temples and museums will allow photography to be done indoors, and one should obey any of the signs or guidance provided by a guide.

The application of drones in Nepal is controlled, and in many cases, it needs special permission. Drones have limitations in their proximity to airports, UNESCO heritage areas and national parks without relevant permission. Because of these rules, many travelers prefer to use normal cameras or mobile phones to capture memories during their Nepal Premium tour package.

FAQs For Premium Nepal Tour – 9 Days

No, it’s not. Our Premium Nepal Tour is easy-paced and suitable for most fitness levels. It has cultural tours and wildlife tours, where there is no hard hiking or walking.

What type of accommodation will we have?

You will be staying in quality hotels: 5-star hotel in Kathmandu, mountain resort in Nagarkot, lakeside hotel in Pokhara, and luxury lodge in Chitwan (with individual bathrooms).

Is altitude sickness a concern on this tour?

No. The tour stays at low altitudes. Even the highest point (Nagarkot, 2,175 m) is too low to cause altitude sickness. You won’t need to worry about altitude on this trip.

Are meals included and can dietary requirements be accommodated?

Yes. Breakfast is included daily, and we also include some lunches and dinners (see itinerary). We can cater to dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.) – just inform us in advance.

Can I join this tour as a solo traveler?

Yes. Solo travelers are very welcome. You’ll join a small group of fellow travelers and an expert guide, so you’ll have company throughout. We can arrange a roommate of the same gender for you (or a single room at extra cost if you prefer).

How large are the tour groups?

We keep our groups small and intimate. The Premium Nepal Tour runs with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 12 travelers. A smaller group means more personalized attention from your guide.

Who will be our guide?

The tour will be guided by an experienced fluent English speaking local guide who will take you through the tour to the end. They are also licensed and quite familiar with the history and culture of Nepal and will make sure everything goes well.

Do the package include international flights to Nepal?

No. You must make your own flights to and from Nepal (the tour starts and finishes in Kathmandu). Once in Nepal the tour price includes all the details, but does not include international airfare.

What is the best thing to bring on Premium Nepal Tour?

Pack layers – light clothes on warm days and a jacket or fleece on colder nights (particularly in Nagarkot). It is essential to have comfortable walking shoes. Also remember about sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) and repellents against insects when visiting the jungle of Chitwan. It is also suggested to have a universal power adaptor to the outlets in Nepal.

Can I get internet connection and phone signal during the trip?

Yes.Wi-Fi is available in all our hotels, and in cities, cell coverage is good. Connections are less strong in the jungle (Chitwan) but you will still have basic mobile connection in the lodge. When necessary, you can purchase a local SIM to access data in Kathmandu at low cost.

In Nepal what is the currency and are there ATMs readily available?

The currency in Nepal is the Nepali Rupee (NPR). It has plenty of ATMs in Kathmandu and Pokhara, and you will find it easy to draw local cash. Major hotels and shops take credit cards, although in rural areas or the market you will have to use cash.It would be a good idea to bring or draw some rupees when you arrive.

Do I need any vaccinations or medicines before the trip?

No compulsory vaccines are needed in Nepal (unless you are traveling to a yellow fever area). It is prudent to be current on routine vaccinations and several tourists have Hepatitis A and Typhoid immunization as a precaution. Discuss with your healthcare provider.

Should I tip, and what should I budget?

Yes, tipping is customary. Not obligatory, but very welcome. As a guideline, budget around USD $5 per day for your guide and $3 per day for your driver (per traveler). You can tip at the end of the trip. Smaller tips for porters or hotel staff (a dollar or two) are also a nice gesture.

Can I do laundry during the Premium Nepal Tour?

Yes. Most of our hotels offer laundry service (for a fee). It’s best done during two-night stops (like Pokhara or Chitwan) so you have time for clothes to be washed and returned.

Will I see Mount Everest on this tour?

You will see plenty of Himalayan peaks, but probably not Everest up close. Nagarkot may offer a distant view of Mount Everest on very clear days on exceptionally clear days, but it’s not guaranteed. If seeing Everest up close is a priority, consider taking the optional Everest scenic flight from Kathmandu (around USD $240). Otherwise, enjoy the spectacular views of other Himalayan ranges – the Annapurnas, Langtang, and more – during the tour.

Is the domestic flight to Pokhara safe, and what is the baggage allowance?

Yes. The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara is operated by reputable airlines and is very short (about 25 minutes). It’s generally safe – if weather conditions aren’t good, they may delay the flight until it’s safe to fly. The usual baggage allowance is 15 kg (33 lbs) for checked luggage, plus a small carry-on. If you have extra luggage, we can help store it in Kathmandu during the tour.

Can I take an Everest scenic flight during the Premium Nepal Tour?

Yes – there’s an optional Everest mountain flight you can take from Kathmandu (usually on the morning of Day 2). It costs around USD $240 and lasts about an hour. Your guide can help arrange it if you’re interested, and it only goes ahead in clear weather.

Will I be able to charge my devices, and what plug type is needed?

Yes. All hotels have electricity (Nepal’s voltage is 230V and uses mainly Type D plugs – the three round pins). Bring a universal adapter to fit the outlets. There can be occasional power cuts, but hotels often have generators, so charging devices is generally not an issue. A portable power bank is a handy addition especially when you use a lot of devices throughout the day as not every car has a charging port.

What should I wear in cultural sites or temples?

Both men and women should dress modestly at religious sites – cover your knees and shoulders, and remove shoes (and any leather items) when entering temples. Basically, avoid shorts or revealing outfits when visiting sacred places.

Is this Premium Nepal Tour extendable or customizable?

Yes. We can assist you in spending more time in Nepal or other destinations. Additional days in Kathmandu, brief treks, or visits to Bhutan or Tibet are also common extensions. Whatever is in your mind we can tailor or make add-ons to the itinerary easily.
