Overview of Luxury Mera Peak Climbing with Helicopter Return – 13 days
If you are a serious and experienced mountain hiker and looking for a fresh challenge to push your boundaries, then we invite you to join our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition, a journey to the top of one of the most beautiful Himalaya of Nepal.
To make it more interesting, and comforting, to make it more reachable and exciting, Life Himalaya Trekking has gone a step further. We have added a Helicopter flight both at the beginning and at the end of its luxury Mera peak climbing with a helicopter return expedition.
We also offer four-star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and private stays in the most comfortable mountain lodges on the route, thus giving you the luxury that you rightfully deserve.
The Mera Summit of Nepal is the highest trekking peak in the Himalayas (below 6500m) that can be climbed with a mountaineering/climbing permit. Its technical, easy ascent makes it achievable even without past climbing experience.
Thus, if you want to introduce yourself to high-altitude mountaineering and continue progressing as a true climber, then surely, our Mera Peak expedition with helicopter return has been formed for you.
Overlooking the two stunning valleys of Hinku and Honku, the Mera Summit lies in the depths of Makalu Barun National Park of the Khumbu region, the same region where Mount Everest is located.
The Mera Peak has three summits named as Mera South (6065 m), Mera Central (6461 m), and Mera North (6476 m). The north and south are riskier and trickier, presenting more technical challenges; thus, our goal will be to conquer the Mera Central defeated on May 20, 1953, by the Himalayan Lion Tenzing Norgay and Jim Roberts.
The Mera Central is also an outstanding natural pyramid that offers you the spectacle of five 8000 m peaks at once: Everest (8848 m), Kanchenjunga (8586 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Makalu (8485 m), and Cho Oyu (8188 m). Shying not far, you can also look at the snow-powdered faces of Ama Dablam (6812 m), Baruntse (7162 m), Chamlang (7319 m), and Nuptse (7861 m).
In addition, our Mera Peak climbing with heli return will also allow you to take a firsthand look at the legendary Sherpa people, their time-stamped Tibetan Buddhist faith.
For our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition, we have chosen the counterclockwise route. It is not the direct route but an alternative that will take you through some of the uninhabited areas of Hinku and Honku Valleys, providing an opportunity to explore a beautiful, rarely traveled region of northeastern Nepal.
This route will also allow you to acclimatize properly before you face the 5415 m altitude of Mera La Pass and the Mera summit.
Our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition will take you directly to Lukla on a helicopter, from where your trek will begin through the Sherpa territory of Hinku Valley.
On day 8, you will be at Khare Camp, where our expert climbing Sherpa guide will offer you a climbing lesson. You will then set up your High Camp at 5780 m from where you will assault the Mera summit the next day. After your triumphant feat, our helicopter will bring you back to Kathmandu from Khare.
So, do not hold yourself back anymore, as our luxury Mera peak climbing with helicopter expedition is waiting for aspiring climbers like you this autumn and spring.

Helicopter (Sharing) flight to Lukla, (2,840 m/ 9,318 ft.) 45 min and trek to Paiya (Chutok), (2,730 m/8,957 ft.) 5-6 hrs
We will take a luxurious early morning heli ride towards the sky of Lukla, looking below literally under our feet the towering icy tips of Langtang, Kanchenjunga, Jugal, Everest, and Makalu.
Once landed, our climbing crew of Sherpas will meet us and take our luggage. Seeing the 6187 m high profile of Kongde Ri, we will begin taking a light walk towards Paiya Village.
Trekking down calmly with new energy, a jungle trail will soon take us to our first floating bridge over the Handi Khola. The trail after the bridge will then flow towards Surke, from where we will have to choose the south trail.
It will uplift us sharply for around two hours towards Pake. The expansive forest typical of any Himalayan trekking opens up from where we will climb over the 2945 m-high slope of the Chutok La.
This Pass will descend us towards the vibrant green tiny settlement of Paiya. The striking snowy pyramids of Kongde Ri, Khatang, and Tengi Ragu Tau will be impressive to stare at in the evening.

Our trail will now meet the hung bridge over the Peseng Kharka Khola. Then, navigating the beautiful green meadow path of Sibuje Village (2770 m), we will reach the Peeng Kharka Danda.
Naulekh Himal will graciously smile upon us as we proceed through Ningsow Khola to finally end our hike for today at the village of the same name.

Our path will be relatively leveled and flat now for around 4 hours till we arrive at Taktor Village. Now, the trail will follow the peaceful waves of Hinku Khola, directing us to the settlement of Tashing Dingma.
Continuing our journey, we will again get ready to cross the long-suspended bridge over Sanu Khola. Our trail will ease now and begin carrying us onward for around three hours till we are at Kothe.

The forest will now gradually fade away, slowly giving its place to the high alpine meadows. The 4000 m hallmark altitude will be overcome today, so we will take today’s trek very gently.
Climbing the ridge of Drangka under the shadow of Mera Peak, we will run into a few herders tending to their animals. After a friendly Namaste, the very small town of Gondishung will be reached.
A few moments of lunch at its peace and a short detour to its caved-in Monastery of Lungsumgba will be momentous here. After experiencing the air of 200 years of history at the Gompa, we will pass by the huge rock where we can find Mera Peak written on its surface.
Ascending sharply among the high-rising titans of Thamserku, Charpate, Mera, and Kusum Kanguru for about an hour, we will be at Thaknak/Thangnag.
This village is a small summer grazing area along the route, which has modest lodges and shops.

Each step from now will have to be taken with caution as we will be trekking upward along the slippery glacial terrain of Kharka and then Hinku Nup Glacier.
Watching far at a distance, the lovable peaks of Kangtega and Charpate, we will again confront the steep glacial moraine of the Lhotse Shar. Soon, our lodge at the cold Khare Base Camp arrived with a very close massive Mera in front.

Before we face the big day of our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter expedition, we will spend a day at Khare to refine our ascending and mountaineering skills under the monitoring of our expert climbing guide.
He will guide us on applying the correct technique for using our ice axe, climbing boots, crampons, and harness. He will also show us the right ascending skill over the rope.
Once done, to boost our confidence, we can hike up to the 5300 m elevated ridge nearby, from where the Mera and Mera La Pass will seem very, very close and massive.

Climb from Khare Camp to Mera High Camp (5,780 m/18,963 ft.) 6-7 hrs.
From Khare Camp, the boulder-strewn path along a sharper trail will take us atop the Mera La Pass (5415 m). Along with Makalu and Lhotse, our eyes will be captivated by the magnificence of Everest as well.
Once we are down by 100 m, we will reach a stop where we may see some climbers setting their tents as their base camp for Mera Peak. However, this stage will only lengthen our program by one extra day.
So, proceeding further along the slightly risky rocky, and glacial trail of the Mera and Naule glaciers, we will head to the rocky section where we can see a huge cairn.
A bit further, we will settle at our High Camp, enjoying the most magnificently beautiful panorama of Mount Everest, Chamlang, Lhotse, Makalu, Kusum Kanguru, Pumori, Baruntse, Nuptse, Cho Oyu, and Ama Dablam.

Climb from Mera High Camp to Summit Mera Central (6,461 m/21,198 ft.) and back to Khare Camp (5,045 m/16,552 ft.) 8-9 hrs.
A very important day of our Mera Peak expedition with helicopter return. Starting our big day around 2 am, we will warm up with our gear and with headlamps, we will head on to experience the overwhelming summit of Mera.
Continuing steeply across the glacier and onto a ridge, we will breathe harder in the ever-thinning air. Slowly, the red glowing light of the awakening sun can be seen.
The route is non-technical but quite hard as we slowly keep on achieving the high elevation. The slope will steepen for a section behind the ridge, and we can see Mera inspiring us to go even closer.
As we reach the expansive foot of Mera, the last vertical summit cone of around 30 m will be quite tricky. So our guide may decide for us to use a fixed rope and a pre-installed railing, safely inspected by our guide.
At last, we have achieved the unthinkable feat, the Mera Summit is under our feet, where we will raise our flags. The witnesses of our triumph will be Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Makalu (8,463 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Baruntse (7,129 m), Nuptse (7,855 m), Chamlang (7,319 m), Cho-Oyu (8,210 m), and Mount Everest (8,848 m).

Tearing ourselves from these Himalayan friends will be hard, but we will take our steps back down to High Camp, where we will rest and eat for a moment before heading back to Khare camp.

Luxury Mera Peak Climbing with Helicopter Return – 13 days Trip Information
Why Mera Peak Climbing with Heli Return should be your first choice, and why with us?
Mera Peak is certainly an outstandingly stunning Himalayan summit that has become the first choice for trekkers aspiring to become climbers. And why not, after all, Mera Peak has it all that makes it among the top and first choices.
First of all, technically, Mera Peak is the simplest, easily climbable mountain, free from steep and deep crevasses and demanding sections, making it the safest mountain in Nepal for first-time climbers.
Additionally, reaching the Mera Summit does not require a special climbing permit from the Nepal Mountaineering Association; a trekking permit is enough, which makes it more reachable than other mountains with similar features.
If we consider its location, although it lies in the home of Everest, the Mera Peak expedition will take you through some of the most uninhabited and rarely visited areas, giving you the feeling of being a true nature explorer.
All these captivating factors make Mera Peak the first choice for climbers and trekkers alike.
And, when you choose to join our luxury Mera Peak climbing expedition with a helicopter return, you will receive the true value of what has been promised to you.
- A true luxury throughout the journey, as promised
 - The safest journey under the supervision of our expert Sherpa climbing guide
 - A brief course on the use of safety climbing gear
 - Helicopter ride not only on the return, but also at the start of the expedition

 - Private transportation for any land journey
 - No need for lengthy, stressful Ramechhap travel

The best acclimatizing route was selected rather than the direct route, making the expedition reachable for all
Place your trust in us for your greatest adventure and the most remarkable milestone of your life.
What Peaks can you aim for after participating in our Luxury Mera Peak Climbing Expedition with Helicopter Return?
After you conquer Mera Peak as your first Himalayan adventure, you have truly stepped into the world of mountaineering as a real climber and conqueror of the Himalayas.
Now that you possess the skills and expertise gained from climbing Mera Peak, you may want to consider tackling the more exhilarating challenges of Ama Dablam, the world’s most beautiful yet thrilling Himalayan peak at 6812 m.
Or, you can also take on the technical challenges presented by Island Peak/Imja Tse (6165 m) or Lobuche East (6119 m). Himlung (7126 m) and Pisang Peak (6091 m) are also other favorable options to consider for your next adventure.
Upgrade your Kathmandu Stay
Already in our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition, we are providing you with an elegant stay in four-star rated hotels in Kathmandu. Here, we kindly inform you that you can also upgrade to more lavish five-star hotels for a small surcharge. You can also select a deluxe room, suite, or single room as per your preference.
With lavish rooms, exceptional services, and stunning views, along with beautiful gardens, you will experience everything you can wish for.
On the trek, we will try to stay in the finest hotels available in the villages, so you will have only lavishness and top comfort throughout the journey.
Upgrade to a private Heli Ride
In our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return, we will provide you with a shared heli ride to and from Lukla. This provision will reduce the cost as expenses will be shared equally among all the travelers.
However, if you like to fly privately without any other strange passengers to and from Lukla, we can also arrange a private helicopter flight for you at a surcharge. You can choose this upgrade for a round trip or just for the outbound or return journey.
With this upgrade, you will have more privacy, personal space, flexibility, and most importantly, the exclusivity of looking at the snowy behemoths from all angles. Please tell us in advance about your choice so we can make the prearrangement for your smooth journey.
Best Season for Luxury Mera Peak Climbing with Helicopter Expedition
The helicopter flights to and fro from Lukla are often (not as much as small aircraft) dependent on weather. Dry weather, low winds, and excellent visibility are essential for a smooth takeoff without interruptions.
Additionally, achieving a higher success rate at the summit depends heavily on excellent weather conditions. Therefore, March to May of the Nepali spring and September to November of Nepali autumn will be the most favorable for the luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition.
Among these months, April and May, along with October and November, stand out as the best months that offer minimal wind, superb visibility, dry walking trails, less snow, and warmer days and nights, along with the heavenly landscape to trek through.
However, understand that at the base and High camp of the summit, the temperature even in autumn and spring can drop to minus 10 to 15 degrees Celsius.
Likewise, the Nepali winters of December, January, and February are colder and snowier, which can increase the challenges of the expedition.
Similarly, the Nepali summer months of June, July, and August are the least advisable time for our Mera Peak climbing with heli return, as lower Khumbu trails may be flooded while the higher zones face the risk of avalanches.
How hard is the Mera Peak Expedition with Helicopter Return?
As compared to other Nepali Himalayan summits, Mera Peak is an easy summit that has been graded as 1B on the alpine scale by the Nepal Mountaineering Association.
This makes Mera Peak the highest 6000 m category peak that can be climbed with a trekking permit. It means that Mera Peak mainly involves trekking rather than mountaineering skills, making the ascent less demanding, with slopes below or up to 40-degree angles.
As for its trekking route, the path is also considered moderate, which includes a few navigable passes of Khari La (3081 m), Panggom La (3175 m), and Mera La (5415 m), but all these passes are easily manageable.
With a helicopter ride included both at the beginning and at the conclusion, we have also skipped the Ramechhap deviation towards Lukla and the massive height of the Zwatra La pass (4600 m), which makes the trek shorter and simpler.
Throughout the trek, lodges will also be available along the route, except at High Camp. The main challenge of our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition lies in the high elevation and suddenly transitioning Himalayan climate.
Also, remember, Mera Peak climbing is not a piece of cake, as the hiking days will be quite long, and Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak. Therefore, you should have gained plenty of experience hiking to at least 4000 m mountain altitude.
Excellent health and fitness, along with some practical knowledge regarding mountain gear, will be very advantageous.
Who can take part in our Mera Peak Climbing with a Heli return Trip?
The confrontation of the slopes and walls of Mera Peak is not at all technical, and yet they are very short and simple as well. The approach to the summit will commence from Khare Camp to the High Camp, which will be an easy ascent.
Likewise, from High Camp to the summit also requires no compromises. The glacial path is also in good condition, devoid of any demanding sections. There will not be many deep crevasses as well; however, the final stretch to the Mera Summit will have a slightly steeper segment of around 30 to 40 degrees.
This makes Mera Peak climbing feat one of the easiest and accessible seismic climbs in Nepal and the friendliest 6000 m peak of the Himalayas. However, please remember that our guide monitoring and evaluating the condition may decide to use a fixed rope or handrails on the final section, and the usage of crampons and ice axes may also be needed.
Therefore, it would be best if you have some knowledge about these gears. Our climbing guide will offer you a short course in basic techniques at the Khare and High Camp.
Thus, we recommend our Mera Peak climbing with heli return expedition to trekkers who want to progress to greater altitudes of the high mountains and who already have experience on mountains over 4,000 meters.
Altitude Sickness and Acclimatization
Like in any other Himalayan expedition, AMS is quite prevalent in our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition. Although we have reduced the return trek, you will still feel the altitude at the beginning of the journey.
Once you cross 4000 m, not only the altitude but the Himalayan weather will also begin to take its toll. Therefore, being fully prepared to tackle and prevent AMS will be the best advice.
It is not known how AMS works and its effects, but not everyone will feel its symptoms. If you follow the guidelines of acclimatization, you can certainly reduce its intensity.
Often, AMS at its early stage will manifest through headache, drowsiness, nausea, tiredness, and sleep trouble. If timely measures are taken with prompt rest, water consumption, and descent, then they can be resolved and prevented from getting worse.
We have endeavored to take the trekking pace gradually, with plenty of time each evening for adequate rest in each village. We also have a rest day at Khare Camp, so you are properly prepared physically and skill-wise to assault the Mera Summit.
If you want to prevent AMS altogether, Diamox can be taken from Kathmandu; however, caution is necessary for those who have any issues regarding their kidneys.
Please trust our climbing guide, who is well-trained in the first-aid treatment of AMS.
Preparation for the Mera Peak Expedition with Helicopter Return
Mera Peak is almost 6500 m tall, a giant snowy mammoth that, although it smiles at you gently and calls your name it is still a high Himalaya that will not be easy to defeat.
Plus, there will be some long trekking and climbing days, although we have reduced them significantly. Therefore, for your highest success over the Mera summit, make sure you are an excellent hiker with an extra level of endurance, strength, and fitness.
To attain these qualities, we would suggest you follow any physical activities that will pump your heart, increase your lung functioning, and boost your overall body muscles’ strength.
Mostly, participants like to stick to their regular daily physical activities such as running, cycling, biking, swimming, walking, jogging, and stair climbing.
Gym lovers would practice treadmill workouts and weight lifting, while some also engage in squats, planks, Pilates, pull-ups, and push-ups. All these activities will be perfect practices to prepare for our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition.
Additionally, sports such as volleyball, tennis, basketball, badminton, and football will also be the perfect physical preparation. If viable, we also suggest that you gain practical skills regarding the usage of crampons, ice ax, and harness.
You can later also proceed to train through rock climbing, which will be an excellent activity to get you prepared for the climbing part of Mera Summit.
Second Route to Mera Peak Climbing Expedition
As suggested, our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition will take you anticlockwise to the north wall of the Central Mera Summit.
The second approach is more direct and revolves clockwise, also taking you to the northern face of Central Mera Summit.
However, this route will traverse you over the imposing 4600 m towering wall of the Zwatra La Pass, which will be more challenging since you will be confronting this height at the beginning of the journey.
Thus, this route is better suited for the seasoned hikers who are well accustomed to the high altitude challenges.
Possible Expansion of Luxury Mera Peak Climbing with Helicopter Return Expedition
You can also broaden your luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return expedition experience with the Everest Base Camp trek. Once you finish the Everest Base Camp trek, you can proceed to Khare through Pheriche to confront the Mera Summit.
Another more fantastic choice would be to add two more marvelous 6000 m peaks of the Everest region: Lobuche East and Island Peak. Likewise, you can also think about combining the adventure of confronting the Mingbola Pass (5816 m) or the Amphu Labtsa Pass (5845 m) as you take on the Mera Summit.
Accommodation, Meals, and Travel Arrangements
Aligning with its name, our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter return will offer you only luxury and comfort for your stay.
In Kathmandu, a twin room of a very cozy and relaxed four-star hotel will be provided, complemented by the utilities of an en suite bathroom, a shower, hot water, and WiFi.
When you engage in the trek, you will stay in private lodges, which means you will have your own room with a hot shower (may not be available in higher elevated villages).
Please understand that at the mountain lodges of higher villages, the sleeping facilities will be quite humble and modest. The hot shower can be requested at a surcharge of 300 to 400 NPR.

Permits needed for the Mera Peak Climbing with Heli Return
Mera Peak is recognized as a trekking peak, but we still need to have the formal authorization from the Nepal Mountaineering Association in the form of a permit.
The cost of this permit changes according to the season you choose to confront its altitude. Spring climbing of Mera Summit will cost you US$250 per climber, and autumn climbing requires US$125 per climber. Likewise, summer and winter climbs will require US$70 per climber.
Apart from climbing, our journey will also include trekking through the protected area of Makalu Barun National Park, which we cannot do without the official permission.
We will also be traversing Lukla in the Khumbu Municipality, so we will also need permission from the Local Municipality to enter the Khumbu region.
The Makalu Barun National Park will charge us NPR 3000 per traveler, and the Khumbu Municipality will charge NPR 2000 per traveler for the official permits.
All the respective permits will be organized by the Life Himalaya Trekking team through the NMA, the Tourism Board Office in Kathmandu, and the Khumbu permit in Lukla.
Travel Insurance
Kindly understand that NMA will deny you the permit if you are unable to present your proper and valid travel insurance document. For attacking any peak or for engaging in any mountain hiking destination, Nepal mandates the absolute necessity of travel insurance. And, it is for the safety and protection of each traveler in Nepal.
Trekking and tour agencies will not take responsibility for your personal travel insurance. They will ensure your safety and comfort throughout and will also manage your rescue, transportation, and medical arrangements should any misfortune occur, but the expenses will fall on you, which is not cheap.
Therefore, when buying travel insurance for our luxury Mera Peak climbing with helicopter expedition, we advise you to specify clearly on your policy about the altitude you are reaching and the extreme mountain action that you are undertaking.
Your insurance must support you for a helicopter rescue and transportation to 6500 m for this expedition. Likewise, it should clearly state that your activity will include trekking and climbing with the use of climbing gear.
Your policy will be more protective if you also include protection against flight delays and cancellations, expanded stays, lost, stolen, or delayed baggage, medical expenses for hospitalization, or altitude sickness.
