Rolwaling Valley to Everest Trek Itinerary
At Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport on fresh arrival where you will be warmly received by Life Himalaya Trekking staff and then transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city.
After refreshment, our guide/leader will brief you on Rolwaling Valley to Everest base camp trekking including other information related to this trip, including welcome dinner in a nice Nepali restaurant with culture programs.
Morning drive on the scenic Kathmandu-Lhasa highway, an interesting drive on the foothills of the Himalayas, passing several villages and towns on reaching Charikot the drive diverts from the main road to a dirt road.
On the road towards Dolkha and Rolwaling area journey continues passing farm villages and finally reaching Gongar nearby the river close to the border of Tibet but in the warm area where rice is still grown around this area overnight camp after a long exciting journey.

From this small settlement morning, a walk leads past Tama Kosi, and into a narrow gorge to reach Chetchet with its cascading magnificent waterfall, from here onwards in the cool area, leaving the rice paddy and sub-tropical region, the path leads to a climb into the alpine area for an hour then walking on a gradual level path, then with the last climb towards our overnight camp at Simigaon village.
Inhabited by Sherpa tribe this is a nice farm village yielding corns, potatoes, wheat, barley, and millets, afternoon is free at leisure, and visits the old monastery with stunning views of Mt. Gaurishankar and Melung Tse peak.

With a nice cool morning, starting the day walk heading North East with a climb through terraced farm fields and then into enchanting serene rhododendron, oaks, magnolia, and pine forest passing several pasture areas, the walk continues above the hillside and then on the downhill to the river through several cattle herders shades and huts at Gyalche, then an hour of pleasant walk to our overnight camp at Dovan, by the river that flows from the mountains high above, Dovan a small settlement in the middle of a forest with few houses.

Morning walk starts with a crossing of Rolwaling khola (stream) then the trail climbs up into tranquil forest, then the path winds up reaching a small place of Nyimare and Ramding farm and Sheppard’s temporary settlements, the trail continues with the climb and then finally completing the walk at Beding village for overnight camp, Beding village home of large Sherpa community and the last village of Rolwaling Valley, located in a narrow gorge valley with an old monastery situated on the top of this village, this village has a primary school supported by Hillary foundation.

An important and necessary to have rest day to acclimatize before heading towards our higher destinations crossing of high pass of Tashi Lapcha. Beding village offers opportunity for short hike like visiting around village and to some high hills for best views of Mt. Gaurishankar and Melung Tse (Jobo Garee).

Today’s walk leads to the end of this beautiful Rolwaling valley beneath the towering Mt. Gaurishankar 7,145 m and Melung Tse ( Jobo Garee) peaks
7,181 m, after leaving Beding village the walk leads on the gradual uphills overlooking grand views of an array of snow-capped peaks from Guarishnker, Melung Tse, Ramdung go 5,930 m, Chukyima go 6,259 m, Tabayabyum 5,558 m, and Yalung ri 5,630 m, as the walk progress and gorge turning into a wide glacial valley and this amazing Rolwaling valley ends with a wall of surrounding snow-capped mountains, after a scenic pleasant walk reaching Na Gaon, which is a temporary settlement of the Beding cattle herders a huge wide summer pasture.
the people here grow potatoes, wheat, and barley and this will be our highest spot of this awesome journey. After lunch, a free afternoon to relax, catch up with the dairy, or short walk around.

After a nice acclimatization day at Nagaon, our adventure carries on, morning walk leads to the end of Rolwaling Valley, then crossing small streams and then leading to Sangma a yak grazing pasture area, from here crossing a wooden short bridge then the path leads to a steep climb over the moraines and streams to reach near the dam of Tsho Rolpa.
This lake is also called Cho Pokhari, our camp is set on sandy level ground on the southern bank of Tsho Rolpa at Kabuk along with awesome views of Tsoboje 6,689 m and Dragker- Go 6,793 meters.

Around this area you can feel the true wilderness with only the sound of nature and ice cracks in the night time, morning walk continues with a climb above the moraine on northern bank of Tsho Rolpo, then leading above the glacier at the centre of a rocky glacier to our campsite on the bottom of Drolambu icefall.
After the camp is set, our expert guides will walk around the area to scout for the best approach and route over Tashi Lapcha, the path are misleading around this area, due to glacier movement and rock fall changes the trail every season.

Today is a Big Day! Starting very early morning before dawn with a climb towards glacier section for an hour, then leading to a spur with a moderate climb on the upper glacier, from here onwards requires ropes to be fixed and making steps-ledge for trekking staffs and porters, the climb to the pass is not difficult except in snow conditions, but have to be carefully avoiding some fatal accidents lose falling rocks might occur in this high mountain sections.
After checking every member of the group, staff and porters the climb to the top of the pass after the last camp takes nearly four hours of the strenuous climb the top of Tashi Lapcha at 5,755 m, the pass is like short mountaineering but without heavy gear, sometimes it requires crampons and ice axe to make the route accessible after a nice break here enjoining the super views of surrounding peaks and the closest peaks on this pass stands Pachhermo at 6,273 meters and towards north Teng Ragi Tau at 6,940 meters.
The top of Tashi Lapcha pass is decorated with Buddhist prayer flags and cairns, the journey continues from the highest point towards Khumbu / Everest region with a long descent to camp at Thyangbo for an overnight stop, this is a small summer pasture area for cattle and yaks herders of Thame and surrounding near villages.

After a hard long day of last previous day trekking, morning walk is much easier and gradual on the downhill walk most of the way back to human settlement and villages after being in complete wilderness for several days of Nagaon, after a good walk reaching at a nice Thame village for overnight stop in the comfort of nice cozy lodge, from here on staying in lodge till Lukla, in Thame with time in the afternoon to visit Thame monastery, one of the oldest Gompa of the region.

After a nice morning, walk continues crossing bridges over Bhote Kosi River and then reaching several interesting villages of Thamo and into beautiful alpine forest of rhododendron and pines trees as the walk leads on gradual wide path to reach at famous Namche Bazaar, at Namche enjoy the facilities of good restaurant, pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.

From Namche on gradual scenic path with downhill to Imjatse river at Phunge-Tenga for lunch, and then uphill through rhododendron, pines, firs tree forest with views of snowcapped peaks.
On reaching Thyangboche visit famous Buddhist monastery with magnificent panorama of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Thamasarku, Kwande and majestic Amadablam.

Morning downhill walk for few hours over Imjatse River, after the bridge walk on an open country where tree lines fades for few short juniper and dwarf rhododendron bushes, uphill for a while to reach at Pangboche village at 3,900 meters.
Last permanent village before Dingboche and beyond, from here a slow climb to Somara for lunch and continue walk with climb to Dingboche village for overnight stop, located in Imjatse valley with panorama of mountains.

After a great rest at Dingboche morning walk with steep climb for an hour commanding excellent views, and then on gentle trail to Thugla for lunch where Khumbu glacier melts into a raging river, here trail from Pheriche joins after a break a steep climb for an hour to Thulga pass, with stone memorials of unfortunate climbers who died climbing Mt. Everest, Lhotse and other high mountains. From here a nice pleasant walk brings to Lobuche for overnight stop.

Today reach the highlight of this adventure at Everest Base Camp, walk for few hours with short steep climb in between over glacier and moraine, reaching Gorakshep, beneath Mt. Pumori and Kalapathar.
Walk continues towards Everest Base Camp, at base camp enjoy the view of Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers, after a lifetime experience return back to Gorakshep for overnight stop.

Early morning hike on top Kalapathar at 5,545 meters, highest point of this adventure, offering incredible views of mountains including Mt. Everest at close distance, after a great moment return to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue walk to Thugla, and then downhill to Pheriche windy valley after a nice pleasant walk reaching at Pheriche for overnight stop.

Return journey much easier on losing heights every few hours, walking downhill with few short ups to Pangboche and then to the bridge with two 2 hours climb to Thyangboche for overnight stop.

After a great time descend to Imjatse River, with steep climb for an hour to Sanasa, from here on gradual path with short ups and downs to Namche Bazaar, a break here and then walk back to Dudh Kosi river valley and to Monjo for overnight stop.

Morning walktoPhakding from here a pleasant walk back to Lukla with the last climb, on reaching Lukla celebrate last night dinner with fellow trekkers and staff.

From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff transfers you back to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.

We reserve this day in Kathmandu as spare day in case of flight delay and cancellation in Lukla, due to bad weather which might happen sometimes, as the Himalayan weather can be unpredictable if all goes according to our program, enjoy a free day with sightseeing tour of Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.
